Chapter 1

•Sophies POV•

I stare at the small house in front of me for a few seconds before slowly walking up to the door that is only a few feet away from me. I put my hand up to knock when the door is opened.

"Oh Sophie sweetie it's been so long since I've last seen you. Come in come in!" My aunt Cassie says motioning for me to come in. "It's nice to see you again aunt Cassie." I say walking into the house. "Oh it's nice to see you too. How are you handling everything?" She asks. "Okay, thanks for asking." I say in a small voice.

She gives me a small smile and looks at me for a few seconds before taking my bags out of my hands. "Follow me. Your room is right upstairs!" She says going up the stairs with my bags in her hands. I follow her up the stairs and to a room on the right. "Right here is your room. I hope you like it." She says putting my bags down next to the bed and turning around to look at me. I take a look around the room that has a white wallpaper, a bed with pink and grey covers with fairy lights above the headboard, a desk with a laptop on top of it, and a white dresser.

"Wow. I love it. Thank you." I say looking back at her. "Well I'm glad you like it! I'll let you settle in and unpack. I'll be downstairs in the kitchen if you need me! My room is right across the hall by the way and theres a bathroom downstairs next to the office." She says before leaving the room and cracking the door.

I take a long sigh and unzip my suitcase. I put away my clothes in the dresser and start to take out some of my other belongings. I reach my moms jewelry and stare at it for awhile. I then hear a ding from my phone. I take it out of my pocket and see a text from my best friend, Claire.

"Hey, I miss you. Hope everything okay and the car ride wasn't too bad. Make sure to facetime me tonight! Miss you! - Claire Bear"

I sigh and turn off my phone. I unpack the rest of my things and go to lay down on the bed. I close my eyes and slowly drift off into a deep sleep.

I wake up to somebody shaking my shoulder. "Sophie, Sophie wake up. It's time for dinner." I open my eyes to see my aunt Cassie. "Oh I'm sorry I must've fallen asleep." I say sitting up. "It's all good. Come on downstairs we're having pizza." She says walking out of my room. "I jump out of my bed and head downstairs. I find my way to the kitchen and sit down across my aunt.

"So are you ready for school tomorrow?" She asks taking a piece of pizza and taking a bite off it. "I guess. The pizza smells good by the way." I smile at her and take a bite of my pizza. "Thank you dear. I can drive you to school tomorrow but you'll have to ride the bus home. I have to work late. I'm sorry." She says with a small frown.

"You're welcome and its all good. I used to take the bus all the time back home." I say looking down at the pizza on my plate. "I'm sorry about what happened." She says with a frown. I start to twiddle my thumbs and look down at my lap. "It's okay um I think I'm going to head to bed early. Thanks for dinner. Goodnight." I say throwing my plate and the pizza in the trash. What a waste of such amazing food...

I head up into my room and lay down on my bed. Am I ready for school tomorrow? I guess I'll have to just find out. My phone beeps and I look at the screen and see Claire's name. Oh right.. we planned to facetime. I get out of bed and head over to the computer. I turn on the computer and click on contacts. I click on Claire's name and hit 'Facetime.'

Claire immediately picks up. "Hey Sophie! I miss you! Hows California?" Claire asks. "Hey Claire. I miss you too. California is okay I just miss Arizona. How's everyone doing?" I ask her. "Everyone misses you but we're doing okay. I'm sorry you had to move. You can always come to visit." She says with a small smile. "Looking forward to it." I say returning a smile. "I start school tomorrow so I should probably head to bed." I say and look at the clock. She gives me a small frown. "Good luck with the new school. Tell me if anyones rude and I'll beat their asses. Goodnight Soph." She says "Night Claire." I say and end the call.
