I would look around just to see the same thing every day. speeding cars on the road not knowing where they want to go. couples kissing not knowing if they're actually in love with each other. and kids rebelling their parents not even knowing why they do.
A town filled with people that I don't know the names of.
they act as if they got it all figured out when they're really filled with doubt. insecure of themselves and scared of the future.A town with an arcade that I would go to every day with my best friend Zeke trying to get the number one high score in Pac-Man.
I jumped gates, trespassing everywhere I could. I stayed up until I could watch the sunrise.
while everyone was off partying, I would watch the stars and wish upon them.
I had never fit in my idle town
which is exactly why I had to leave
Before I did, I left a note for Zeke.
"Hey, Zeke. This is Conan. I'm sorry but I have to leave, you know I had never fit this town and I appreciate you sticking with me despite that. We've been best friends since day 1 and I wouldn't want it any other way. Even so, I need to find a place with bigger and better things, somewhere where I'll fit in and I think San Francisco is the place. You know I always wanted to go there since we were little and this is my chance. I have to do this. I love you and wish you the best."
— From your best friend
p.s: don't stop playing pac man just because I'm not around :)
I packed my bags and got on my bike. I rode as fast as I could with nothing but thrill and excitement flowing through my body. Can't believe I actually had the strength to leave. that I'm actually going to have a fresh start, in San Francisco.
-----------------------
I was beginning to lose hope in ever reaching my destination but when I saw a big sign that said "WELCOME TO SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA" a smile crept upon my face.
I was overloaded with curiosity and excitement, so I decided to wander the city.
Truly in awe of what I was seeing. The buildings were tall and painted with bright colors, the people smiled at me with joy in their eyes, and the air smelled of cotton candy.
I couldn't ask for anything b-
my train of thought was cut off as my body collided with another causing us both to fall on the floor.
"oh my gosh I am so sorry, I didn't see where I was going." I babbled.
"no worries" the unknown voice chuckled. their voice was somewhat soothing, soft yet rough. they helped me up off the ground after dusting themselves off.
"thanks-" my words were cut off once I looked at the face to whom the voice belonged to.
It was a boy with brown hair and brown eyes, which looked golden in the sunlight. he had a sunflower in his hair and yellow nail polish on to match. I must admit he was cute.
"christian. my name's christian" he smiled.
"i'm conan" I smirked.
"you don't look familiar, are you new around here?" he asked
"yeah, I actually am. I literally just got here." I laughed.
"woah that's cool. I suppose you haven't eaten yet, can I take you out for coffee?" he asked nervously.
"yes, you can" I answered calmly trying to hide my excitement.
I think I'm going to like it here.
