Cheryl sits in a chair next to her Nana. The beeping of her machines next to her. Cheryl thinks about the last time she was in a hospital, when she burned down Thornhill and almost cost her mother's life. Nana used to sing to Cheryl and Jason when they got sick. Cheryl remembers when she and Jason both got chicken pox at the same time in middle school. They were a itchy mess but her Nana sang her Beatles songs. Nana's favorite was Blackbird. Cheryl thought it was pretty appropriate for living in Riverdale.

Nana hasn't woken up since she fell down the stairs. Cheryl can't help but fight the feeling that her mother and Uncle Claudius were involved. Maybe they poisoned her and she fell? Maybe they pushed her and she fell? Maybe they poisoned her and also pushed her down the stairs? Cheryl couldn't wrap her head around it. Cheryl could understand why they would want to get rid of her but what could a elderly lady do to be in their way. Nana doesn't deserve to be in a hospital bed. Cheryl holds her Nana's hand. All Cheryl can do is to hope she wakes up.

Cheryl hears a knock at the door. "You can come in," Cheryl says.

It's Toni with a teddy bear that says: Get better beary soon! Cheryl smiles. She can't believe Toni is here. "How is she?" Toni asks.

"They say she's stable. They are running some tests. They are still trying to find out what caused her to fall. But they still have no idea when she's suppose to wake up. It could be hours or it could be days. We just don't know," Cheryl says.

Toni says," Cheryl, I'm so sorry. I know how hard this is. I just want you to know I'm here for you."

Toni grabs Cheryl's hand. The comfort feels nice. Like ice cream on a sunny day. In all the craziness of last night with her Nana they never talked about what almost happened. They almost kissed. Cheryl doesn't know if it just a fluke or maybe Toni likes her back but Cheryl does know she likes her around. It makes her feel secure and like there is hope. But then again hope is bastard and only breeds misery.

"I know you are. It's just... I'm scared she's going to die," Cheryl says as a tear rolls down her right cheek.

"She's not. She's going to be fine," Toni says comfortingly.

"But she could. She could die. That would be another person who I love who has died. Possibly committed by another person I love. What does that leave me? Alone. I would have no one. I would be all by myself," Cheryl says.

Toni responds,"Cheryl--"

The doctor enters the room and the room shifts twenty degrees. He has the "I have bad news face". Cheryl can't deal with this, not now. "Hi, are you Ms. Rose Blossom's granddaughter?" the doctor asks.

"Yes. I am her," Cheryl says tighting her grip with Toni's hand.

"Well, we have some news about your Nana," the doctor looks at Toni," Um, can we have a moment alone with Miss Blossom?"

Cheryl says,"She can stay, Dr. Matthews."

Toni interjects,"No. It's fine. I'll leave and give you both some privacy," Toni looks at Cheryl," I'll call you later. I have to get home and give my grandpa his meds or he won't take them. I'll see you later, bye."

Toni gives Cheryl the teddy bear and closes the door behind her. Toni looks at the door and wishes she didn't have to leave. All Toni wants is continue their conversation from last night. Toni wants her to know she craves her too. She wants to be with her and she can't stop thinking about how her lips almost touched hers until Cheryl's Nana ruined it by falling down those stairs. Timing and romance do not correlate. Toni continues walking out of that hospital. What could have been?
