i'm a strong believer in not forcing anything, so this is the reason for the late chapter that is also forced and a filler. Dedicated to lee lee ( beautylieswithinu ) because she's thrilling and she's slowly getting the stomach for superntaural.

07: sleepover

The next morning, Maella knew she had the most pleasant sleep she’d had since the breakup with Troy.  There was no next strain or pained lumbar. The pain she’d experienced from sleeping on her bed or on the couch had diminished. She didn’t know whether it was her sleeping with her head on Kael’s lap (which she was quite embarrassed to admit she enjoyed a lot) or the fact she was sleeping diagonal. Whatever the reason, she wanted to wake up to this every morning.

Maella swung her legs off the couch and onto the floor, getting up from the cushions with ease and grace. She trudged through her room, picking out clothes she’d wear for the day inside her apartment that showed Kael that she didn’t care all that much for her personal looks (like she truly did). On her made bed, Maella tossed a pair of leggings and a plain gray t-shirt. Her thinning body clambered into the shower in the next room after peeling off the dirty clothes from yesterday. The warm water hit her back and was refreshing.

She didn’t want to admit this to anyone, especially herself, but she enjoyed knowing that Kael was in the other room. He was cute, Maella thought, and he obviously had enough guilt to try and make it up to her. Her mother Catrina thought it was a bad idea to even associate with someone like him, given his past and his flaws. Maella didn’t want to see the look on her face when she told her mom: “I really like this boy.”

There was a few things that probably helped Catrina decide her position on the man, one being, Conner. She loved Conner to death; he was her sister’s husband, and they were close with each other (Maella and her sister). Conner just didn’t like having things ruined for him, which is a big reason why he hates Kael. He ruined his career, which I really didn’t fair because he could’ve not told the poor soul the secret, especially since his brother was deathly ill with cancer and was bound to retaliate in some form because of it. Conner didn’t know when enough was enough. He should’ve learned that he doesn’t need to get even. Kael makes mistakes (maybe bigger ones), but he still deserves to have others not dictate other’s thoughts.

Maella hopped out of the shower, not really in the mood to more other than to wash her body and wet her hair. She put on her lazy clothes after changing her underwear and bra for something a little fresher. When she came out of the room, her hands up as she put up her hair in a lazy wet mass on the top of her head, she noticed the blonde man snoozing away, his mouth pulled back as he breathed.

She walked past the couch Kael was passed out on, going to the kitchen section of her apartment. Maella ignored the grumbling her stomach, going straight to the burner on the stove, where the kettle from last night was. As the heat rose from the stovetop, Maella washed the inside, getting out the bag of tea before putting it back on the stove with new water and a different taste of tea. This one was Blueberry Jasmine, her favorite.

Kael still didn’t make any ruckus, so the red-head sat at her dining room table, reading a page or two of an already-open book. She knew the story right away. As people thought the novel was of falling in love and the rewards of it, Pride and Prejudice was more about the time period, the way people interacted, and the society differences. She enjoyed the not-so-noticeable parts of life. Maella looked for the small things, like the cutting of hair, the subtle sweat of the palms, and the purses of the lips. Those things she found joy in. She knew she was an interesting character.
