The air was hot, however I could barely even sweat unlike everyone else. The room smelled like rotten pig. I stare at the clock hazily, when suddenly a pencil hits me in the head. I turn and see the new student Jake Parker. He smiles sheepishly at me.
"S-Sorry, I didn't mean to hit you. Are you okay?" He asks.
"I'm fine. Who were you trying to hit?" I ask him.
"No one, I was messing with it and it went flying."
I nod lightly, and then hand him back his pencil. I turn forward, trying to focus on the classwork. I just want this day to be over. That past couple weeks have been the worst of my life. I'll never be able to forget them. I glance out the window, my mind fading into the memories...
---------------
2 Weeks Ago:
I smiled brightly as I entered the school. It's my first day back from summer break. I'm an official senior.
"Hey Molly!" Hollers a voice.
I turn to be met with my best friend. Hayden Conners, a 5'4ft tall Senior with death red hair. She smiles at me.
"How was the rest of your summer? Sorry I got off grid. My parents took me on some stupid trip."
"At least your family goes on trips. Mine seems to rarely even talk anymore." I say as I look to the ground.
"Oof...sorry.."
"It's not your fault. Anyways, to answer your question...it was okay."
"Just okay?"
I cock an eyebrow at her.
"Yes?"
"Alright, if you say so."
"Wait, do you know something I don't Hayden?"
"Nope. I just thought that hanging out with Daniel was a big plus for you."
My eyes go wide as a light blush covers my face. I grab her and pull her to the side.
"How do you know about that?!"
"Please. Jackson is friends with Daniel. Since he's old enough to make his own decisions, he stayed home."
"Right...I forgot about that...wait, your parents made the responsible 18 year old go, and left the immature 24?"
"Unfair, I know. Anyways, we should get going."
I nod and we rush off to class. After four boring periods of endless back to school talk, I finally make my way to the cafeteria. I meet up with Hayden there, and together we sit down at a table. As we sit she starts to go on about her day. I let her ramble, knowing no one at her house will let her. Hayden and I have been best friends forever. I couldn't imagine a world without her. The day carried on as a usual first day. At the end of it, I went to my locker to gather some things. I hear footsteps approach my locker door. Someone leans on the locker next to mine.
"Hey Hayden, I'm almost done here."
I finish getting what I need, and shut my locker door. I turn to be met with the ice blue eyes and dark hair of Daniel Cunningham. The hottest guy at the school, in my opinion. I grip my binder tightly.
"H-Hey Daniel."
"Hey Molly. How was your day?"
"It was great, and yours?"
"It kinda sucked...anyways, mind if I give you a lift home?"
"Sure! I-I don't mind at all."
"Good." He smiles.
He turns and starts walking. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a leather jacket. His hands were in his pants pocket, and he walked as if he could give zero fucks. I smile warmly and start following. As I walk with him I see Hayden out of the corner of my eye. She smiles at me with a thumbs up before walking away herself. Daniel then took me home that day. The week sure did start of great, but then Friday came. Hayden and I had plans to go break into an abandoned building for her YouTube channel. I was preparing all day, and then after school at my locker is when it began to fall apart. Daniel approaches my locker again, as he has this whole week. He had a charming smirk on his face as he stared at me.
"Hey Daniel." I smile.
"Hey, you ready to go?"
"Oh, sorry but Hayden and I have plans today. I'm going over to-"
"Seriously?"
"I'm sorry?"
I grip my binder and shut my locker.
"Ditch her. I want you to myself tonight. Is that so wrong?" He tells me.
I gulp, "Sounds great but I can't."
He scoffs, "If you truly like me, the way I like you...you'll meet me at the park...6pm sharp."
He then walks away, leaving me in silence. After a couple minutes of being frozen, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I jump slightly and look over to see Hayden staring at me.
"You okay?" She asks.
" Yeah...Daniel just...he wants me to meet him at 6."
"But our thing?"
"I told him. Listen, as cute as he is, I won't meet with him. Tonight is for you. You have all the attention."
"Very well, good decision peasant."
"Peasant?"
We laugh together and then start heading to her house. We arrive after a short 15 minute walk. We quickly drop our things off and grab her camera. It's a half hour walk to the building, then we'll eat, then film, then screw around, then come home. That was the designated plan...little did I know Daniel wouldn't let that happen. Our plan follows how we wanted for a good while. We arrive on time, eat, and start filming. The place was scary. The sun was beginning to set, so it was pretty dark inside the building. There were two floors. The place was trashed from graffiti artists and squatters. Papers were molded and everywhere. Whoever left here left in a hurry. We both had flashlights so in case we went different ways. We stayed together for the most part though. That was until we got to the basement. We stood at the top of the stairs looking down.
"Let's go." Hayden says.
"How about I wait here?"
"What? Are you scared?"
"No, I just think we should have a look out in case someone comes in."
Hayden rolls her eyes at me.
"Whatever Molly."
Hayden then heads down the stairs. She turns to the right and continues walking. I didn't want to admit it, but basements scare me. I stare down at the empty staircase. My light then begins to flicker.
"No, no! Don't die on me!" I tell myself.
"Everything alright?!" Hollers up a voice.
"I think my flashlight is dying. Don't worry though, I got another one!"
I turn the light off and place it in my bag. I go to grab another one, when suddenly I feel something hard hit me in the back of the head. Just like that I was surrounded in darkness. It felt like forever before I finally opened my eyes. I sit up quickly, grabbing my head. I look around. I was laying on a bench...at the park?! I look down at my watch and the time read 5:58pm. I look back up at my surroundings and that's when I see Daniel coming down the path. I stand up, wobbling slightly.
"You came." He smiles.
"No, I was kidnapped."
"By who?"
"I...don't know..."
"Maybe it was a dream? Anyways, sit down. I want to tell you something."
"Listen, I should get back. Hayden is going to be mad if-"
"Sit down Molly." He says sternly.
I gulp hard. I stare at him.
"No." I respond.
"Molly, please. I won't say it again. Sit down on the damn bench!"
His face became dark. He was beginning to scare me. I then sit down, my forehead beginning to sweat. He sits down next to me.
"Molly, this is important."
"Then tell me already."
He chuckles, "I love you."
"You...what?"
"You heard me. And because I love you, I'm going to turn you."
"Turn me?"
He then grins ear to ear, sharp fangs being revealed. My eyes widen. This had to be a bad dream! I probably just fell down the stairs! I need to wake up! WAKE UP! Daniel then pounces on me like a dog in heat. His right hand grabs ahold of my head while his left hand grabs ahold of my waist. He was on top of me, and I was far from strong enough to push him off. He kisses me hard, my heart pounding from adrenaline. He then starts kissing down my mouth, and to my neck. I then stop struggling as a sharp pain shoots at my neck. Was he biting me? It hurt so bad. It was like he was draining my energy though. After a couple minutes, he releases and kisses me again. He then let's go of me; a smirk on his face. He gets up and begins walking away.
"Good luck!" He yells out.
I sit up again, touching my neck where he bit me. There wasn't any blood, just two small dents. I shake it off and turn towards the old house where I was. I take off running. My run speed seemed to be slightly faster than normal, but I didn't care. I arrive as quick as could, but appearently not fast enough. Hayden was coming through the gate, a sour expression on her face. She walks up to me and pushes the bag hard into my hands.
"What the hell?!" She yells.
"Listen, I was knocked unconscious! It was Daniel! He kidnapped me!"
"Stop lying to me! You chose him over me, didn't you?!"
"No, Hayden listen! He attacked me! He bit me and told me good luck!"
"Stop it! I'm done Molly!"
She then walks away, leaving me alone. I bow my head and go home. Why is this happening to me? The weekend was ruined. The next week Hayden seemed to ignore me, and so did Daniel. I couldn't understand how one moment I had it all, the next...nothing. Eventually Wednesday rolled around, and this day was important because it was the day that Hayden and I became friends again. It was around lunch time when I started getting a bad stomachache. I asked to use the restroom and when I got there, I broke down. I grabbed my stomach tightly, and fell to the ground. I couldn't move. After a couple minutes, Hayden walks in. She goes to walk past me, but then turns to me. Sympathy in her eyes.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
"I...don't know...it hurts!"
I squeeze tighter. She sighs and sits down next to me.
"I miss you...you know?" She tells me.
I couldn't respond. I was groaning in pain too badly.
"Listen, I know you can't respond so let me say this while I can. I miss you. You're my best friend and I only got so upset because I thought I was more special than some boy. Okay? How about I help you to the nurse, and then we make up?"
"I'd...like...that..." Was all I could get out.
She smiles warmly and helps me up. As we leave the bathroom Daniel is waiting outside. He smirks at us.
"Mind if Molly and I-"
"Oh no. Not again buster. We're going to the-"
"Silence."
Hayden then drops me to the ground. I look up at her. She seemed dazed. I look over at Daniel. He kneels down and smirks.
"Feel that? It's the hunger. You know how to satisfy it. So do it."
He snaps his fingers and Hayden returns to earth.
"Nurse's office!" She finishes.
She looks down at me, "Did I drop you?"
She then helps me back up. Daniel walks away, and I look at Hayden.
"Take...bathroom...please..."
"But-"
"Hayden!"
"Alright..."
She takes me back into the bathroom. She sets me down gently, and I lean against the wall. She kneels down next to me, confusion on her face. I look at her, and as I do I begin to hear her heartbeat. Thump thump...thump thump..I blink, trying to shake the noise. She places a hand on my shoulder, and that's when I noticed her new perfume. It smelled...
"Hayden...Daniel...he's a...vampire.."
"A...vampire?"
She then bursts out laughing.
"A vampire?!"
"Yes! The...night...he attacked me...I think he....turned..."
I yelp in pain. Hayden looks at me in disbelief. She then gently takes my chin. She lifts my face up, and then gently uses one finger to pry open my lips. Her face turns pale, and she lets go. She leans against the wall.
"You have fangs...you never had canines before...are you serious right now?!" She looks at me.
I grip my stomach harder. I nod lightly, and turn away from her.
"Wait a minute...your stomach...are..you.. hungry?"
I could tell she was scared.
"Look...you're...best friend...I...rather...die..than hurt..you.."
She breathes heavily. All of this felt like one big-
"This is awesome!" She grins.
"A-Awesome?"
"Yeah! My best friend is a vampire! Look, I'll find a source for you later...but the least I can do is this."
She takes her jacket off and tilts her head. She moves in front of me. Her heart was racing...she was still scared. I know she's had dreams about being a vampire, but for me it's a nightmare! I go to look away from her, but she slaps me. I stare hard at her. I guess I have no choice. I lean forward and bare my newly grown fangs. I then gently sink my teeth into the side of her neck. Though I was personally disgusted...it felt good. It tasted good. My stomach soon stops hurting, and as soon as it does I release. She falls forward onto me.
"Hayden!"
"I'm okay...are you?"
I nod. We then hug, and from there are we were friend again. Over the weekend I had some more changes though. My once light brown hair became dark brown, and my once green eyes became blue-green. I also...matured...in many places.

Current Day:That was only the past two weeks! Ever since I've fed from Hayden, she wants me to keep doing it. I've kind of distanced myself because of it. God, what am I going to do? Daniel transferred over the weekend to a new school, so he's no longer here for me to yell at. I sigh and look back up at the clock. Two more minutes until freedom...that's when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn back around to face Jake once more.
"Hey, I'm doing what I can to try and make some friends...so you wanna..go to the mall with me after school?" He asks.
I think for a good moment. Do I really want to? I've given up on almost everything else. I smile lightly.
"Sure. Why not."
I then turn back around. Giving friendship one more try can't hurt...can it?
