I groan as I wake up in a white room with a strong scent of cleanliness. Memories come flooding back as I remember what happened. My mum is gone. A tear drips down my face just as a doctor comes in to check up on me. "How are you feeling?" He questions me. I shrug in response whilst I sit up and let tears flow freely from my dull eyes. "Um, your father asked me to give you this once you were conscious." He fiddles with a small envelope and places it on the bedside table, "You will be discharged soon once we've done a mental health evaluation." He smiles kindly and leaves the room.

I pull my eyes away from the blank walls and look at the brown envelope sitting quietly on the table addressed to me. I sigh and pick it up, carefully opening the seal. Inside lays a note and what looks like some sort of jewellery. I slowly pull the note out of the package and gently open it.

'Dear Y/n' I freeze. This is my mums writing. Tears well in my red eyes, I take a deep breath and continue reading.
'I'm sorry that I left you my sweetie. You mean the world to me but it was just too hard. Please know this is not your fault but the complete opposite of that. I tired to be strong for you and you gave me a reason to live for the first time since I can remember. However, the cons eventually outweighed the pros and I just couldn't deal with the pain anymore. You don't have to worry about rent for the house as I have finished paying for it and I have prepaid the bills for the next year. I am so sorry it had to end like this, Y/n.  I love you with all of my heart and I hope you can forgive me for this. When you get lonely, wear this necklace and know I am here with you.
Until we meet again,
your mother xx'

I look at the note held in my shaking hands. Placing it on the bed, I pull a beautiful sunflower necklace out of the envelope with the words 'you are my sunshine' engraved in the centre. I cling to the last pieces of my mother as I let out a broken sob. I let the cool chain wrap itself around my neck and I hold the letter close, inhaling the scent of my mothers favourite perfume. I drift off into a peaceful sleep filled with beautiful memories of happier times.

A month later I am allowed back to school. I walk down the halls of the school and the bell goes. I don't bother to speed up and walk slowly into class. "Late again Miss y/l/n. Detention after school." My teacher hands me a slip. I just shrug and sit down at the back of the class at the window seat. I jot some things down in my book but then I go off into my own world for the rest of the lessons. Before I know it, I'm in my next lesson and soon enough, the bell rings throughout the halls of the school. As soon as the bell rings, I run out of the class and to the rooftop. I walk over to the corner overlooking the city when I hear the door open. I don't pay attention and I plug my earphones in and listen to music. After 15 minutes, I look up from the city and I see seven boys glaring at me. The leader (I think) steps forward and I pause my music and take my earphones out.

"What are you doing here?" He asks coldly. I ignore him. "Let me ask you again, what are you doing here?" He's getting impatient.

"Contemplating whether or not to kill myself but why would you care? I'd be doing the world a favour." I sigh and I turn back to the view of the city that I've grew up in.

"Why don't you then?" Another one asks curiously.

"Okay, I don't know you guys - or even your names - and you think I'm gonna tell you why I'm suicidal? Great joke," I chuckle to myself quietly and look back at them, "Oh, you were serious," I notice as their faces look stern.

"Yes, we are serious, Y/n," One with mint hair says.

I look at him in confusion, "How do you know my name?"

"Umm... You really don't remember me? Min Yoongi? I lived next door until I was 10 and we used to hang out all the time," Yoongi says and squats in front of me.

"Oh, my god! What happened to you?" I question as memories nearly forgotten flood back.

"My dad got a job in London so we moved to England but when I turned 18, I left to come back to Korea and, well, here I am. I'm currently bunking with Jimin at his house," He replies.

"You never said goodbye; you just left and I never saw you again," I remind him.

"Ah, my mum said it's better not to because we would both be more upset," he shrugs.

Just as I'm about to say something, a cough can be heard and we both look towards an angry boy with soft pink hair, "Have you had enough lovebirds 'cause some of us have a life we need to get on with," He spits out.

"Chim, we're nothing more than childhood friends. You've got nothing to worry about, babe," Yoongi stands up to give 'Chim' a quick kiss on the lips. "Oh, yeah. Jimin is my boyfriend," Yoongi shrugs at me.

"I had a feeling you weren't completely straight." I smile to them and the bell goes, "Welp, better get goin'," I start to gather my stuff and stand up.

"What class have you got next?" Someone says as I start walking away.

"Don't know, don't care. I'm going shopping," I reply as I exit the roof and make my way downstairs to the school courtyard.  I toss my bag over the metal fence and climb over afterwards making my way to a some shops on the main street.

Two hours later I find myself sitting in a booth sipping at my coffee in a cozy café.

'That was weird. I never thought I'd see Yoongi again - and I never thought he would actually get a boyfriend,'  I laugh to myself quietly and finish off my drink, 'I should apply for a job here...' I look around and decide to go to the counter.

"Excuse me?" The barista turns to me, "Hi, do you have any jobs going?" I ask her.

"Hang on," She walks to the back and brings out a form, "Just fill this out and you can start Monday at 4pm," she smiles sweetly, "Oh, I'm Lisa, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Y/n," I say, "Don't I need an interview or something?"

"We're really short on staff and anyway, I see you here all the time. So why not get paid for it?" She laughs.

"Cool, I'll get these back in a minute. See ya."

"Bye."

I walk away and take my seat again and start to fill out form. Once I've finished, I hand the form back to Lisa and collect my bags to go home when the boys from earlier walk in.
