I ran

I didn’t look back as the cold wind whipped against my face, I couldn’t look back

I tripped over branches as I tried to get away

Go faster I screamed to myself, I can’t let him catch me. I wouldn’t let him catch me. Not again

The wind was getting colder and colder and I couldn’t feel my legs, I felt myself start to slow down but I couldn’t. He would catch me. I tripped over another twig and this time I couldn’t get up. I just layed there letting the wind whip against my face, cooling the bruises on my eyes and cheeks. He got me, I let him get me. I felt strong arms yank me up by my hair and push me against a tree. My eyes were shut but I knew who it was.

“What did I tell you about running away?” he whispered into my ear, moving a strand of hair away from my face.

I didn’t answer him, there was no need. I felt his cold hand collide with my jaw. I didn’t flinch, I didn’t cry, nor did I show any emotion. I was used to this; used to letting him treat me like I was nothing, used to letting him push and shove me around, used to letting him hit me.

"open your eyes when im speaking to you” he yelled.

My eyes met his piercing brown ones. They showed hatred, years of built up frustration.

“Now I’m going to ask you again, why did you run away?.” He said pulling my hair harder.

“You know why Zayn! I’m done with this!” I spat. Right when I said it I knew I should’ve kept my mouth shut. From years of beatings I should’ve known not to talk back, not to yell at him but I did anyway. He pulled my up so I was face to face with him, putting his hands around my neck.

“Your done with this eh? I decide when you're done” his hands got tighter and tighter around my neck as he spoke. “you worthless piece of trash! No one will ever love you. No one will ever like you.” I couldn’t breathe and my vision started to get give away. He pulled me away from the tree and then slammed me back into it. That’s when everything went black.
