Just to clarify:
Alpha- leader of the pack, position gained by Beta when previous Alpha dies (or in less civilized packs, gained by whoever kills the previous Alpha)
Luna- Alpha's mate, advises him
Beta- second in command, takes over Alpha's position if Alpha dies, position taken over by Delta when Beta dies, advises Alpha
Salutary Wolf- female, healer of the pack, usually kind and gentle
Sentinel- patrols borders, messenger, border guard
Guardian- takes care of elderly and young, usually caring and compassionate
Omega- disgraced wolf who has done something bad but not bad enough to be exiled or killed
Every able bodied werewolf is a hunter and fighter, no designated ranks of warriors or hunters
Many of you probably know this, but I just wanted to clarify because I may have changed some ranks and roles! Also, I did not think of all this. Much of it was due to the book Ranks by @jredjims, which explains the ranking of animals and paranormal creatures, including werewolves. I do not want to copy anyone's work, so big thanks to @jredjims for the help on understanding werewolf pack rankings.
