grayson's pov
tuesday rolled around and still not a word from piper. wednesday passed, she hasn't even looked at me. thursday, yup you guessed it. nothing...
i had gotten closer with lane however. just as friends. "hey lane what's up?" i asked once the bell rang signaling the weekend.
"eh nothing much. what about you?" she asked ruffling my hair. i swatted her hand away making her laugh, "boring weekend." i sighed.
"me as well." lane said. "can i ask you a question?" i asked grabbing her arm making her stop. "ya of course." she responded
"does piper talk to you?" i asked. "i was afraid you were going to ask the question sooner or later." she sighed.
"but yes, rarely. something happened a few months ago that destroyed her. i of course know what it is. but that's not my place to tell you." lane said as i nodded my head.
"oh she did say one thing about you though.." lane trailed off. "what was it?" i asked. "she told me to tell you to stay away." lane said looking down.
"what does she mean?" i asked as my heart slowly broke. "i asked her the same thing. she just said she doesn't want to hurt you." lane said.
"she won't hurt me." i said. "i know she won't. but she doesn't believe it. she's in a bad place right now," lane said, "like a really bad place."
"what happened to her?" i asked almost breaking down. "not my place to tell you i'm sorry." lane responded, "i have to go."
and with that lane left leaving my mind wandering of the possible things that could've happened to piper.
was it something with her father or was it something else?

lane's pov
"hey piper. how was your day?" i asked opening the passenger side door. "good." she mumbled looking down playing with her fingers.
"you know you can talk to me." i said putting my hand on her shoulder. she quickly moved her arm to the side making me hand fall off.
"ok that's fine. just know i'm here for you." i said as she started the car driving home. she nodded her head taking a deep breath.
once we got home i plopped my backpack down at the steps of the stairs and ran up to my room. i checked my phone to see a text from grayson.
grayson~ hey lane. there's a party tonight at greg's house. you and piper should go it'll be fun
me~ sounds fun. i want to go but, i'm not sure about piper. what time does it start?
grayson~ starts at 9, but the party doesn't really get going til about 10
me~ sweet thanks see you there
I ran back downstairs to tell piper. she was sitting on the couch eating leftovers from last night. "hey piper. we were invited to a party. and we are going." i said smiling.
piper rolled her eyes. "come on. you don't have to talk. just go please. for me." i begged grabbing her arm lightly squeezing it.
"fine." she said quietly making me smile. "ok come on. it starts at 10. we need to plan what we're gonna wear." i said pulling her off of the couch making her set her food down.
we ran upstairs to her room. when piper wanted to she had the best sense of style. but, this week all she has worn is jeans and sweatshirts.
tonight i was going to change that. i wanted her to get noticed, maybe it would help her open up more. and plus, before the incident piper loved parties.
