Running the Mirrors Edge

Sean's P.O.V

I slammed on the gas pedal, bringing the speedometer up to 145 kilometers. I checked my rearview mirror for police officers, cause I was going 45 miles over the speed limit. I had good reason to be, too. I was late for college orientation! Speed is key!  I told myself, quoting my favorite YouTuber. I turned up the Panic! at The Disco track I was listening to, increasing my speed by 20 kilometers.

"...ooh, it's Saturday Night!" I sang along to the music, having commited to memory my favorite songs on my playlist. I rolled down the window, turning my music louder as I did. Then, I took a right at the intersection of West and Kingston, running a light as I did. "Bloody Hell!" I yelled, as I saw blue and red lights explode from an unmarked police cruiser a car behind me.

I gunned it to the campus parking lot. Illegaly breaking traffic, I cut into the parking lot, finding a spot close to the entrance. I yanked the keys out of the ignition, grabbing my phone, wallet and signed Vidcon '19 hoodie. Slamming my door shut, I ran to the auditorium doors. The police cruiser was getting closer. He pulled into the parking lot, braking to a stop 15 feet from my car.

"Hey kid! Stop running!" the officer yelled. I just yelled back, "Sorry officer! Can't! College orientation! You understand, right?" I didn't slow down for a reply. I burst through the doors, not slowing down. I ran a few yards to the double doors into the auditorium. I skidded to a halt. I looked myself over.

"What is there to look over? I'm probably underdressed. A Playstation T-Shirt isn't the most attractive thing I can wear." I said to myself. I took one deep breath, and then opened the doors. As they swung open, I swear only one person looked up at me.

It was this cute little black girl with a Tiny Box Tim T-Shirt on. She was also next to the only empty seat in the whole auditorium. "Why not? What've I gotta lose?" I said quietly. She looked away when I realized I had been staring at her the whole time.

"Damn, she is soo cute." I breathed as I walked over to her. When I got up to her, I think I scared her a bit, seeing as how she jumped when I got over to her. I sat down, placing my Vidcon hoodie on my lap. She looked over at me, and then looked right into my eyes. She had the most beautiful coffee-brown eyes. We glanced at each other, then quickly looked back at the stage. Oh god, can she see me blushing? I hope not.

Once the orientation was done an hour later, the lights came on and I stood up. The cute black girl next to me stood up too. We looked at each other and laughed awkwardly.

"Um...Hi, I'm Sean." I said while holding my right hand out.

"I'm Passion," she said, smiling, and she shook my hand. Her hands were warm against mine.

Who knew that my freshman year would change by just awkwardly meeting someone?
