Before you say anything, yes, I know the book's title is bad. But no great names popped up, so we're stuck with this one!

Brooklyn, New York
Year: 1930

In the bright morning of Brooklyn, people were going on their daily routine. The adults were working, getting from places to places while the children ran around, playing since it was a Sunday. But in one of the dark alleys there, a small child was cornered by a bunch of stronger, older kids.

"What's the deal? Alone without your bodyguard? Had some confidence today, huh?" One of them grinned cockily.

"Bucky isn't my bodyguard.." He whispered softly, eyes on the ground.

"Oh, really? Don't try to give yourself credits, Rogers. You're nothing without him. So, where's that loser? Did he finally realize how much of a weakling you are?" Hearing that, the rest of the teens laughed loudly. All the while, Steve did nothing, but stayed quiet and took it in.

"Did I hit the mark? He was too good for you anyway. While you? You are nothing. Nothing." He stressed out the last word.

Maybe he's right. Steve thought. He started to give in to the lies.

"But then again, if he's hanging out with you, then he's just as bad as you."

No.. Bucky's not like that.

"Let's call them the 'Loser duo'. Haha!" Another teen mocked, making the rest agreeing.

Shut up.

"Aww why so quiet? Are you going to cry again? Boohoo."

Out of nowhere, a short-lift of bravery hit him like a bolt. "Shut up already! Don't you dare say that about my friend!" Steve covered his mouth after knowing what he said.

The boys' eyes widened, taken back by that strike of bravery, but the leader wasn't too pleased.

He grabbed Steve's collars and stared at him straight in the eyes, smirking angrily at the smaller child. "You got a lot of nerve, Rogers. A crap ton of them today. But how about I remind you what happens when you talk back." He lifted his fist to sock him in the face, but then, footsteps was heard from behind in quick pace before the other shouted for him to look out.

His reaction was to turn around and see what was going on, not expected to a punch hurling into his face. The teen stumbled back, was about to fall on the frail boy. Bucky, who came with the savior, snatched him out of there and proceeded to get back to his hero.

His goons gasped in shock, by how easily he was defeated and also the unexpected appearance of..

"It's The white witch!" They exclaimed, backing away quickly.

"How weak are you to pick on someone half your size? You should be ashamed of yourself." She said. Her white hair tied up high, lights bouncing off of it, chocolate brown eyes showed anger and disapproval to the teen, and brows furrowed downward, indicating that she was what her eyes shown. She was at the same height as bucky, but her dress was a bit torn up.

"Grab Troy and Run!" One of them shrieked and ran away. Two kids picked up their leader and ran for the hills.

She waited until they left, then sighed loudly because of their false accusation. She turned to the boys, mainly bucky, "This is why you shouldn't be with me, Barnes. You're going to be an outcast."

"Like I'm not already. Jackie, come on. I'm trying to help you. Can't you at least cooperate with me? For old times sake?" He pleaded.

"That's why I'm shutting you out, for old times sake. I want you to be happy. Being with me, is the opposite of happy. I'll just ruin everything for you, like how I did for my parents." 'Jackie' retorted.
