After the trip to the hospital, I returned home and ran upstairs to my room. I fall onto my bed and let out a small cry. "Look at this," I said to my cat. "my little kitten," I continued. "my little puff of Smoke." I pat Smoke's head gently. I can feel her purr. At least I can feel something. I thought. "At least you can hear me." I look at my phone. 12:59 PM.

Shit man, it's almost 1:00AM!

"Smoke, it's nap time." I pick up Smoke and gently lift her to my chest. I turn the light off and try to fall asleep. I check the time.

1:01 AM

1:20 AM

1:48 AM

2:20 AM

Come on! Fall asleep dammit!

"Grraagh!" I jolt upright, scaring Smoke. "Sorry Smoke, I can't sleep. Or hear." I added. She looked at me and fell back asleep. If only I could do that.

I slid off of my bed and trudged downstairs. Looking at the fridge, I open it and grab a jar of pickles, a pack of dried beef, and a container of creame cheese. Don't drop anything. I thought over and over. I grab a spoon and a fork. I slowly open the pickle jar, trying to not make any noise. I pick a few pickles and cover them in creame cheese, then place them inside pieces of dried beef. "Yes." I say quietly. I love this shit. I finished making a few pigs in a blanket, and put everything away. I grab my Gatorade waterbottle and fill it up with water. I grab a cat treat on the way towards the stairs.

I start to walk upstairs, carefully balancing all of the food. Don't fall. Don't fall.

I made it up the stairs and rested the food onto my desk next to my bed. "Look, I brought you a treat!" I showed Smoke a small cat treat. Smoke jumped up immediately and started purring.

There you go.
