I shuffle about my new home slowly. I miss the states but I need new scenery. I just finished the book tour of the final book in my series Steel Dawn Mercenary Company. I just need to get away from everything and breath. So as I was trying to decide what I was going to do I came across an article about a new VR game sweeping Japan with talk that it's going to expand to the west, it's then that I knew where I had to go. My name is Benjamin Walker and this is my journey on New Life On-line.

Okay, I'm a gamer geek but I didn't just up an move to another country on the spur of the moment. I saw the reviews from the testers and game play footage. Then I checked the reviews from the first wave of players and they were off the charts. At this point I still had a month left on my book tour. So I order the Rosetta Stone program for Japanese and had my agent get in touch with some realtors in Japan to find a place.

My book tour ended and I told everyone I was moving to Japan for a change of pace. They thought I lost my damn mind. Beside the obvious reasons they thought I'd taken leave of my sense is the simple logistics of it all. I'm a tall man by western standards at six foot five inches tall. Which put me at roughly a foot taller than the average Japanese male adult, at least according to the internet. That being said I'm used to everything being made for people smaller than me, it's simple a fact of life for me.

Besides being tall I've a broad frame and while I'm not buff, I'm far from being fat. I wear my sandy blonde hair a little long with a trim beard on my face. When I got off the plane in Tokyo a little Boy pointed at me and called me Thor. I hid a smile as the boy's mother scolded him.

The realtor showed me the house he found for me. It's in a beautiful gated community on the outskirts of Kyoto. Even tho It was built with taller people in mind I still have to duck under most of the door frames, I like it. It has a year round backyard patio. Instead of mesh screens it's glassed in and has heating and cooling from the house. I've already put a writing desk and one of two memory foam sleeping chairs I ordered out on it. Now while the house was being set up I played tourist. It's Kyoto for god sake, I swear I wore out a pair of walking shoes visiting every shrine and temple I could find. I even got to have a few halting conversations with some Buddhist monks. I could feel the stress ofthe tour leaving me, it was fabulous. I got to just sit and soak up the history and beauty of city, I found it to be very soothing to my soul.

Everything is now set up and I've moved into my new home. I ease down into my memory from chair in my new living room and sigh in bliss, god it's comfortable. Now it's decision time what should I call my self in game. Name options shouldbe fairly open yet the game has only been open to the public for two months. I chuckle to myself. I know what name I want to use. I put my VR unit on an put my feet up and recline all the way back, I switch n the power. The screen before my eyes flashes.

I feel as if I'm floating in a blackvoid. Choose language in white letters appears in front of me with Japanese underneath it. I think at it and it switches to English, oh that's a relief. Choose your character name appears next, I spell out Baodune.

"Baodune registered, welcome to New Life On-line Baodune." Intones a deep voice.
