9: Battle for the Finals

Iruka congratulates us and to celebrate it, we will eat at the Ichiraku Ramen!! Which made Naruto really happy. Iruka explained us about the two scroll. Oh yeah, last time, Naruto and Sakura were supposed to open the scrolls when Kabuto-san stopped them. Thanks to him, we didn't got knocked out just like the other team. Because when we open it, a Chunin will be forced to knock us out for opening the scroll when we still haven't reach the end. Thank goodness.

I feel exhausted. Me and my team stood up and went to our next destination. That Orochimaru guy is still in my mind, the mark that was on Sasuke's neck may be a problem. Seems like most of the genin made it. To think that many had passed the second exam.

One chunin or jounin informed Anko-sensei about the 21 genin who had passed. Now, all of us gathered along with our team. I saw Sasuke having a hard time with that curse mark again. Well, to mention it, Naruto doesn't really know about the curse mark, Sasuke doesn't want Naruto to know about it so he won't be worried.

I glanced around, seeing all of the other jounin, the third hokage is also there too. There's Kakashi-sensei, Bushy brow's sensei which is known as Guy. Kurenai-sensei, which is the sensei of the Team 8, and then Asuma-sensei, the subordinator of the Team 10.

Sakura was now being worried at Sasuke. Of course I am too. The third hokage started tell something about the purpose of the exams. Then here it is, the sand guy asked on what about the next exam.

"Oh yes, the Third Chunin Exam. But before that, we will have a preliminary rounds started immediately." said the Third Hokage. Everybody was shocked about it. So prelimirany rounds before the finals huh? Then a jounin appeared in front of him. His name was Hayate Gekko, who mostly coughs.

"Immediately?! But we just finished our exams lately, can't we take a break?!" complained by the others.

"Already?" I whispered to myself. I'm still tired you know. He said that there's no time for resting because the battle can take too long because of the number of the genin.

"Wait, what's with the preliminary rounds then?" Shikamaru asked.

"Since many of you passed the recent exams, it proves that the exam was too easy*coughs* On the next exam, the battle on each other will take it too long to finish*coughs*. We decided to set up some preliminary rounds to reduce the number, because when the final exam arrives, many guests will be coming*coughs*" Hayate explained. "In the preliminary rounds, two genins will be battling each other, the battle will be ending when the opponent dies, unconscious or forfeits. It also depends when I'm calling it over*coughs*" so we have to battle each other but each genin from a team will have to battle their opponent from the other team, right?

"Before we start *coughs* do anyone wants to drop out? Please raise your hand if you do," Sasuke was still in pain, does he need to back out?

"Sasuke-kun, I-I think you should back out for now, that mark is causing you trouble," Sakura said. Sasuke still refuse. "But Sasuke-kun! I can't watch you suffering anymore, please," seems like Sakura is traumatized at what was the first appearance when the curse mark activated. Sakura was about to raise her hand to back out Sasuke about the curse mark when Sasuke stopped her. Instead, Kabuto-san forfeited.

"K-Kabuto-san! W-Why are you backing out?" I asked. Why does he need to back out?

"Yeah! Why are you quitting?" Naruto asked too.

"Sorry, but my body isn't functioning well. Last time the sound ninja attacked me, he produced an unpleasant sound that hurt my ear," he said. I frowned, I wanted to watch him battle but this is what he wants then. He wished us goodluck and before leaving he whispered something on one of his team.
