The car came to a screeching halt and I jolted awake almost falling off the seat. I looked up and saw we stopped at a house. Have we already reached? I wondered to myself. I then shifted my line of vision to my parents and their facial expressions showed that we have indeed reached our destination. Had it already been three hours! Did we stop for anything? I looked at my mother and she saw that I was surprised and a bit confused. I opened my mouth to ask her but she beat me already knowing what I was about to ask her.
"Yes we did stop twice. And you were asleep the whole time. Your father tried to wake you up but you weren't ready to move," my mother told me.
I really must sleep without a care of world. Do all mothers have mind reading powers which they use on their children all the time? Now I understood why I am so hungry. I simply nodded at my mother not able to speak anything. My conscious mind is still trying to adjust to the outside world. Turning my head to the house again I saw that it was nicely built. Under the moonlight it glistened a dark blue just like the water of ocean under a moonlit night. It had pale ivory colored border along the edges of the house. It had two floors in total and large windows which made the house more airy. Broadly the house was such that anyone who passed by would halt at least for a minute to watch the view. This house is going to my home for coming years. I again looked towards my parents and realized that while I was ogling the house my parents had already taken out the luggage from the car and were already moving towards the house.
I followed them along the long pathway until we reached the door. Entering the house, I stopped at the doorway and saw a wide staircase going up on the left side. There was a long hallway with doors which opened to different rooms and the wide staircase. My parents walked ahead and I followed them. Stepping through the first doorway on the right, we entered the living room. It had a fireplace near the right wall with two nice comfortable chairs placed opposite each other and a small table positioned in the middle. Instantaneously I fell in love with that spot of the house and I knew it would be my go-to place for reading. For a minute I pictured myself sitting on one of the chairs with a coffee mug in my hand and reading a good mystery.
"This is going to be your favorite place of the house, isn't it?" my father asked me. I turned around so that I could look at him and I saw that he noticed me fantasizing in my own world.
"Yes. It is going to be," I answered faintly.
Another wall had a huge TV mounted on it with two almost white colored with a little tinge of green couches placed in 'L' shape opposite it. All in all it was a huge room, much larger as compared to our last house.
"Come here guys," we heard my mother's voice from across this room. We crossed the hall to another doorway which was on the opposite side of living room. It was the kitchen and my mother was looking through the cupboards and refrigerator which I observed were already stocked up.
"Everything is already stocked up and equipped with all essential equipment!" she exclaimed.
"Yes, it is," my father said while moving towards her. He put an arm around her and said to me, "This house is fully furnished and I know you are just waiting to explore it. Why don't you settle your stuff in your room while you look around. Later you can maybe go out wander around the city and meet new people."
"You just want some alone time with mom, don't you?" I said wiggling both my eyebrows at him. "Don't worry about me. I will be out of the house in sometime and you can have the house all to yourselves," I said and left the kitchen laughing all the way. There was living room, kitchen, laundry room and a bathroom downstairs. I walked down the hall to the staircase. I wonder which room will be mine.
"The first door on the right is your room. We have already kept your luggage upstairs," I heard my father's voice while I was climbing upstairs. Well that clears my confusion.
