"You are my nepenthe," she spoke in a whisper as her head found my shoulder, and she looked up at the sky filled with stars.
"I am?" I asked, genuinely surprised. She had totally caught me off guard.
"Yes, nepenthe is a drug that helps forget grief, sorrows, and troubles, and that is exactly what you do to me. You are my drug that helps me escape my reality," her voice was just above a whisper, but still quiet enough as if she was scared that someone might have had heard her, even though we were alone in the meadow. Or maybe she was terrified that she had said the truth out loud, which meant it was real now.
A half smile had formed on my lips, not only because she was being her geeky self, but also because she had admitted that I was her nepenthe, which meant she had feelings for me. Maybe deep down, but she still does. Which means there's still hope, even with her self-daignosed philophobia.
