"The world is against us." Surgeo said, plainly.

"I believe so."

"Why are you so calm about it then?"

"Because I have you."

"Cut this corny shit out, I mean it,"

"And I do too."

Zach pulled Surgeo closer, his eyes searching his face. His lips were slightly parted, and he was breathing heavily. They came closer and their lips met. The warm buzz welcomed Surge, though suprizing at first. They held the kiss for a moment then broke off. Zach could feel his face blushing, as he saw Surgeo start to turn red.

"We can't do this...Zach..."

"Shh, forget about that now, don't worry, everything will be alright..."

Zach cradled Surgeo in his arms, just whispering to him. Surgeo silently sobbed. When he ceased, they separated. Zach could still see his wet cheeks, glistening in the dim lighting.

"We've been in here long enough...we have to go." Surgeo said reluctantly.

They both shuffled out of the closet. Closing the door carefully, them made sure no one could hear them.

If anyone knew about Surgeo and I, we would be executed on the spot. Our alone time is private, and it's the only thing keeping us sane.

Surgeo could practically see a large thought bubble above Zach's head. He didn't dare ask what was wrong, because someone might hear him.

BOOM

A loud crash outside rattled the whole building. They heard a familiar siren.

"Waaaaaaaaah-whaaaaaaaaah-waaaaaaaaah"

They rushed outside to see another bomb had been dropped about a quarter mile away. Smoke and ash filled the air, making it hard to breathe.

"GO GO GO! TO THE BUNKER! IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR LIVES, YOU BETTER RUN!"

Their commander Mary ordered them all, just in case another bomb had dropped. Just as she predicted, another one crashed down to the spot she was standing, and ripped her body apart. Her arm was sent rocketing flying through the air as more rushed to the bunker.

In the dusty room, Surgeo locked eyes with Zach, hoping for reassurance, but he only found another scared boy.

This war has been going on for more than 10 years. Asia had detonated nuclear bombs in America, 4 times so far. People are anticipating more. It caused mass destruction. Hundreds of kids were born into this war, and they grew up watching others die. Millions, dead. The president issued a law that when all children turn 14, they must join the army to help fight. Connections to other people is strictly forbidden. Kids are taught to kill everyone but Americans. They want to win this fight, but many are now questioning whether winning is worth all this death.

Another kid in the back of the bunker was screaming as a waterfall of blood spewed from his arm. Or at least, what was left of an arm. It had been blasted away right above his elbow. The kid wouldn't last another hour before he bled out.

Surgeo looked away. He couldn't see any more death. That was enough for today. Closing his eyes, he searched for something to inspire him, but he only found that horrible day; the day his family had been brutally murdered in front of him.

A bomb had dropped. People were running. Machine guns were shooting.
