Three simple words to describe Kirsten at that point of her life, Hurt, Rejected, and Livid. Kirsten couldn't understand why she was treated this way. And because of the torment and anger taking over her, she ran. Kirsten Ran away from school, ran home packed her things and kept on running. She was running, running from the whispers and rumors that filled the halls, from the staring eyes that made her chest tight. Kirsten didn't know where to go or what to do so she stayed at a Super 8 hotel, she could only afford one night. While Kirsten was walking down the hall to her room number 125. This middle aged man stopped her, and asked where she was headed, and if she wanted any company. Kirsten was going to keep walking and the man grabbed her arm. Kirsten got free of his hands and ran to her room, scanned the card and locked the door. Kirsten hardly slept that night, she messaged me and asked for me to come to her room.
I drove out a mile or two and found the hotel. I walked up to room 125 and knocked on the door. She answered with a pocket knife in her hand, she looked around and let me in. Kirsten told me everything, the weird old man and how her peers made her feel. That was the first time that I... slept... on a hotel floor. At least my friend felt safe.
