Todoroki's P.O.V. :

I woke up this morning to the early morning sun above my head coming from my window. I yawned as I sat up and rubbed my eyes as I thought, 'This will be a long day.' I got off of my bed and got ready for school then hurried to the kitchen for breakfast. My elder sister greeted me as I walked in. "Good morning, Shoto." She said in her cheerful voice. My elder brother waved as he shoved bacon and eggs with toast and orange juice into his mouth. As I sat down and looked above my sister's head I saw numbers taking the place of of air. I wasn't really shocked to see them there though. Everyone could see the numbers. It became normal for everyone to see numbers above eachother's head. It means tha- Wait! I have to get to school! I'm going to be late! "I have to go! See you two later!" I yelled over my shoulder. I didn't hear their responses as I grabbed two pieces of toast and ran out the front door.

Once I got to class, I saw Midoriya and his numbers. Something was different about him today. His hair looked shorter and he looked tired. I looked at his numbers as I got closer. They were so low for being a teenager. I wonder what happened. I decided that I would confort him about it. So I asked. "Good morning, Midoriya. You look different. Did you cut your hair? You also look really tired. Are you getting enough sleep?" He looked up and a big grin appeared on his face and it made my chest tighten. What was that? "Good morning, to you too, Todoroki-kun! Oh, you noticed? I did cut my hair. It was a bit long. Do I really look that tired? I didn't sleep well last night. Only one night. Just nightmares. Horrible ones." Midoriya said as he shuddered when he said the last bit. I took a step closer to him and gently grabbed his shoulders. When my hands collided with his shoulders I felt a little electricity pass through my fingertips. I felt my face flush. "Hey, Todoroki are you okay? You're all red!" Midoriya exclaimed. I reached for words that I couldn't grasp. Then after a few seconds I spoke.
"Yes, I'm fine. I'm just blushing. Take care of yourself and take care of your sleeping habits. Maybe drinking chamomile tea with a little honey and milk before bed would calm you." I stopped then I got really flustered and blurted something out. "I-I-I don't know where all of th-that came from!! Um! Uh! T-T-That's just something that my sister does before she and I go to bed! So uh! Just... I don't know..." I said as I felt myself get redder than I was. I felt so hot... "You're on fire!!" Midoriya said as he started to pat the top of my head. He was on his tip toes because he was shorter than me. I was shocked that my quirk could do that. I put the flames out and mustered up the courage to ask him why his number was so low. I took a breath and slowly I let it out. "Why is your number so low?" I asked. I knew I was still flustered. He looked up at me and then looked back down. Then he spoke. "Well,...you know how people have a number above their heads, right?" He paused for me to answer. "Yes." I replied. He nodded and continued. "Well... Those numbers represent how many days that you have left to find your soulmate before you die. It's said that if you have someone that likes you, and is your soulmate, and they didn't confess their love for the other person soon enough... and their number reaches zero.... then the other person dies and that soulmate dies alone. But if one of them is on their deathbed and the other confesses their love then it saves the person's life." He smiled. "They live happily ever after." He added. I never heard that. So that came as a small shock. I tilted my head. He didn't answer my question. "What's your answer?" I asked him. His smile faded and a small cloud of sadness washed over his face. "I have this sickness that is slowly killing me... I'm going to die before I find my soulmate." Midoriya's voice broke and tears filled his eyes. The sight of him about to cry made my heart hurt. I pulled him into my chest because I wanted to comfort him. He lifted his head with his chin on my chest. I wiped his tears and the bell rang for class to begin. So everyone took their seats and got ready for the daily work that we normally do. But as I worked, I felt two pairs of eyes staring at me. Both Kirishima and Bakugou were staring at me until I looked up.
I shrugged it off and continued working.
