Ricky's pov ;;
It's been a few weeks since I've seen or talked to Chris. Or any of my friends, actually. I know they're probably worried about me, but nobody has really tried to contact me except for a few texts every once in a while. Chris hasn't even texted or called me at all.
I was laying down on the couch, curled up in a blanket, watching Edward Scissorhands. I was about half way through the movie before I heard the front door unlock, then open. Looking up, I saw Chris come in, shutting and locking the door behind him. He came over and sat down on the couch next to me, looking down at me. I glanced over at him, then focused my eyes back to the movie.
I heard him sigh quietly to himself, but I didn't look away from the tv. "Ricky, why haven't you been in school? The guys are all worried about you and I'm worried about you."
I sat up, looking at him. "You guys are worried about me? Then why haven't any of you came to check on me to see if I was okay? All you guys have done is text me maybe once or twice a week. And you haven't even texted me once."
He bit his lip, looking down at his lap. "I know... I'm sorry. I was stupid. I should've at least called you or checked in on you or something." I just shrugged, laying back down. "Well, I'm fine. You can tell the guys that I'm still alive. Oh, and I'm not going back to school. I dropped out."
He looked down at me, and I could tell he wasn't happy with what I said. "Are you insane?" I smiled a little to myself. "Yeah, kind of."
I don't think he found this situation very amusing, to be honest. He ran his hand through his hair, sighing. "Ricky, I... I came over here because I have to tell you something. I don't have the guts to say it so... I wrote it down." He handed me a piece of paper, folded in half. I looked up at him, a confused look on my face. "Just read it. Then text me or call me if you want to. And if you hate me, I understand."
He stood up and went to walk to the door, but turned around and came back over to me. He leaned down and kissed the top of my head gently. Before I had the chance to react, he stood up and walked away, walking out of my house.
I sat there for a few seconds, surprised and confused at what just happened. I slowly unfolded the paper he gave me, my hands shaking slightly. As I read it, I felt tears start to fill my eyes.
dear Ricky,
if you're reading this, then I probably chickened out on telling you this in person, so here it goes.
I've been in love with you since freshman year of high school. I never knew how to tell you or how you would react, so I kept my feelings bottled up inside. I just couldn't hold them in anymore. I know you won't feel the same, but I needed to get this off of my chest. I understand if you don't want to talk to me or be friends with me anymore, but just know that I'll always love you. I love you with all of my heart, and nothing will ever change that fact.chris xoxo
I grabbed my phone out of my hoodie pocket, dialing Chris' number and pressing the call button. I had tears streaming down my face, and I was trying to wipe them away. He answered on the second ring, and I could tell he was nervous. "Hey Ricky..."
"Come back over, please." I basically sobbed out, not caring how embarrassing I sounded. I hung up the phone, and not even a minute later, Chris was coming through the front door. I got up from the couch and went over to him, wrapping my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me tightly, and we stayed like that for a while. Eventually I looked up at him, wiping some more tears off of my cheeks. "You never left, did you?"
He looked down at me, smiling slightly. "No, I didn't." I giggled a little, rubbing my eyes. He grabbed my face gently, making me look into his eyes. He started leaning in, so I did the same, until our lips touched. It sounds so corny, but it felt like fireworks went off. Eventually, we pulled away from each other, and he rested his forehead against mine.
"I love you too, Chris. With all my heart."
