Two

Florence was a dead girl walking.

The second we walked into the party, she disappeared with Luke somewhere and now Matt and I were stuck in an overly crowded living room, with drunk dancing idiots and music blaring through the entire house. She knew that we both didn't want to be here but we also knew that she would kill us both if we decided to leave early without her.

"I'm gonna go get us a drink," Matt shouted over the loud music and even though I didn't hear him, I read his lips and nodded.

Matt knows I won't drink so I'm guessing he's gonna find non alcoholic drinks for us. If there is any at this party.

I caught a glimpse of Kaiden, another one of the popular guys who also played on the football team with Luke and Hunter. Hunter used to be the star quarterback but after the accident, he gave that up too. He pretty much gave up everything he used to do and now he's just alone all the time.

Kaiden smiled at me from across the room when his eyes met mine. I waved awkwardly, not knowing why I even thought of doing that. It's not like Kaiden and I have ever spoken before. Suddenly, I saw him finish off his conversation with his friends and he began walking over towards me.

Oh god. What do I do?

"Hey," he smiled once he reached me, his dimples appearing in his cheeks. They remind me of Hunter who has cute dimples too. Wait, why did I just think of Hunter?

Swallowing my saliva and looking up at him, I gently smiled. "Hey." Lame.

"What're you doing here? I didn't know you were the partying type?" The amusement was noticeable in his tone. He also sounded surprised as much as he looked it to see me here.

"Florence," was all I had to say before he began laughing, leaning forward slightly as he successfully managed to avoid the drink spilling from his hand.

Everyone knows that even though Florence sits with us "normal" kids and not with the popular kids, that she loves parties and she can get pretty wild at these things. She's more of a social butterfly if you will and I'm more of a lonely caterpillar.

It's not that I wasn't pretty because if I do say so myself, I wasn't hideous. I was average with natural looks. My brown hair was naturally wavy and long, which complimented my tan skin and hazel-brown eyes.

"That girl loves to party, doesn't she?" He chuckled and I nodded my head also agreeing.

"So, where's Allison?" I asked after an awkward moment of silence, although it wasn't silent because of the loud music playing.

He put his drink down on the table beside me. "We...uh..broke up. Last week actually."

Looking into his eyes, I could see that he was upset about it. I didn't even know they had broken up. Then again, I didn't know anything about the popular kids. Only what you'd hear but I hadn't heard that they broke up. Maybe they didn't want people finding out?

I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know,"

He just shrugged. "It's not your fault. No need to apologise. She just didn't want anyone to know because she was actually cheating on me."

           I gaped.

"Yeah," he nodded when he saw my reaction. How could a girl cheat on a guy like Kaiden? "She didn't want people to hear about it so we just agreed to stay friendly in public but really were not together anymore."

Before I could respond, Matt returned holding us both a drink. He noticed Kaiden standing there beside me and he looked at me awkwardly before I gestured for him to come over.

"Kaiden, you know my friend, Matt," I asked while looking over at Matt who looked at Kaiden with a small smile.

"Yeah," Kaiden nodded. "Sup, Matt?"

Matt shrugged before handing me a red plastic cup. "Same shit. Did you hear about Wakefield High's quarter back Eric Harper?"

And just like that, a bromance blossomed. Just kidding. But I did excuse myself and leave them to their "guy talk" to go find Florence. Maybe she was finally ready to spend some time with me at this party. I began looking around but after a few minutes of searching, I gave up. Luke's house is a damn mansion. It'll be impossible to find her with all these people here.

Maybe if I asked someone, they'll tell me if they've seen Florence or Luke.

Heading back to where I came from, I saw I was back in the gigantic living room area where everyone was still dancing to a Chris Brown song. It sounded quite dirty, if you ask me. Something about legs in the air?

I tapped a guy who was dancing on the shoulder and he spun around off balance a little due to him being overly drunk. Like he can help me. I just walked away from him and decided to go outside for some fresh air. It was getting kinda hot in there with all the dancing and movement, not to mention over 300 people inside.

There were a few people outside, some talking with drinks in their hands, others making out and I just stood there awkwardly doing absolutely nothing but wander mindlessly. My eyes caught a familiar figure sitting on the bricks that wrapped around Luke's mansion. Hunter.

What was he doing here? Last I checked, he and Luke weren't talking. So why is he here at his party? He was staring intently at the phone in his hand, totally oblivious to his surroundings. I was planted at the front door porch but I could see him perfectly under the moonlight. His golden brown hair was wavy like it always is and looked a little messy but it worked for him. He wore black jeans and a blue t-shirt that looked a size too big for him. But even though it was oversized, you can still see how defined his body is just by looking at him. His biceps would tense each time he'd type on his phone. Well at least that's what it looked like he was doing.

Abruptly, and without any warning, he looked up and just like that, his eyes were on me. I stood there awkwardly because usually our stares would only last two seconds tops. But tonight when he was staring at me, he didn't look away. He heaved in a breath, eyes trained on mine and I felt my hand rise and before I could stop myself from humiliation, I waved. I bloody waved. What's with me and waving today?

He didn't wave back. He just nodded his head that said "hey" with no expression displayed on his face. That's also when he looked back down at his phone, breaking the eye contact we shared. I felt so hurt for him. His lost all his family and now his little sister has been in a coma since, and he has lost everything.

"Hey, why did you tap me, babe? Did you need something?" Someone stood right behind me, a little too close for my liking. Babe?

I turned around and saw the guy I tapped on the shoulder staring back at me with a grin, looking completely wasted. "Uh, no, sorry. I thought you were someone else," I lied and began to turn back away when his hand was on my wrist, gripping it lightly.

"I can be anyone you want me to be," he whispered sensually into my ear making me cringe and shudder. He smelt like alcohol and sweat, he seriously needs to back off.

I shook my head and attempted to yank my arm out of his grip, but his grip tightened a little. Glaring at him, I raised my voice a little. "Let go of me!"

He just chuckled but his grip remained on my wrist and I grew more and more frustrated. "Don't play hard to get, I know you want me, babe,"

"She said let go!"

Suddenly, Hunter had grabbed the guy by his jacket and slammed him hard against the wall of the house, his eyes held rage and I watched his jaw clench shut.

"You touch her again and your gonna wish you hadn't. Mark my words, Davey!" So the guys name is Davey?
