As I opened up a few windows the hot summer air blew through my house. I wiped away sweat from my forehead and sighed. To save money on the bills, my parents decided we can go a little while without air conditioning. Thus making me feel like I was baking in a 350 degree oven. I walked over to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator looking for something to quench my thirst.
My best friend Lexi sat on a bar stool next to the kitchen counter using a seventeen magazine to fan herself. "Okay we're not staying here. Your house is hotter than Hades... and I don't even know that much about Greek mythology." She said as she threw her natural dirty blonde hair into a high ponytail with little wisps falling down.
I shook my head and laughed and remembered our freshmen year and how she could never remember anything about the gods or goddess's. This would be our last summer as highschoolers. It was crazy how 3 years of highschool flew by and senior year was only two months away. "Don't worry, we're leaving now."
I grabbed two water bottles and threw one to her. She made no attempt to catch the water bottle as it hit the counter and rolled off landing on the wooden floors with a thud. "Ugh water. No wonder you're so damn skinny, this is what you drink all day. I don't know how you can drink this stuff, it tastes horrible." Despite her disgust for water she picked up the plastic water bottle and gulped it down.
I rolled my eyes. "Water doesn't even have a taste." I said while grabbing my car keys that hung from a little hook in the wall then walking towards the front door.
"My point exactly. I'd much rather be drinking a ice cold glass of sprite."She said with a big smile. She jumped off the bar stool leaving the water behind her as she followed me to the front of the house.
As I headed towards my red jeep I heard lots of children laughing and yelling. I looked over to the house where all the noise was coming from. A bunch of cars were parked in the front. Three red balloons were tied to the mailbox and kids and their parents made their way to the front door with colorful presents in their hands. I recognized the house. I then seen Tyler, the guy I completely made a fool in front of, grabbing some stuff out of a car that was in the driveway. Sure enough, as I was staring at him he turned his gaze towards me.
"What are you waiting for? Christmas? Open the damn door already." Lexi said impatiently.
I turned around quickly trying to avoid him. As I was opening my car door I heard a familiar voice call out my name from afar. "Hey Ally!"
Lexi and I both turned our heads to the sound. I then saw Tyler walking towards me.
"Well well well.... you never told me you had such a hot neighbor Ally?" Lexi said with a smirk as she began to fix her hair.
I frowned thinking about how stupid Tyler must think I was. I mean who falls while running in front of a hot guy. No one except me. That's who. He was probably coming over here to remind me of everything that happened a week ago.
"It slipped my mind." I said to her.
Tyler nodded at Lexi with a grin on his face then turned towards me. "So I finally see you again," he laughed. "I see that your knee has healed pretty good."
I wore shorts today, and you could see that my knee's had healed somewhat. I nodded and looked away, wanting to change the subject so I wouldn't have to explain the story to Lexi.
"Yeah. Anyways, this is my best friend Lexi," I said motioning towards her. "Lexi this is Tyler."
Lexi smiled and removed her shades from her face which revealed her blue eyes. Tyler gave another flawless smile. I bet Lexi was his type. All the guys we knew always had crushes on Lexi. She was a blonde beach beauty. I'd always referred to her as that. Clearly, this was the type of guy she'd go for too.
