A lot has happened in the past 6 years. That's an understatement. A lot more than a lot has occurred not only within the past 6 years but the past 12 years. If anything, you could almost say that my life overall has been quite eventful, and, after everything that has happened, only now do I have the time to sit down and reflect on how extraordinarily busy I've been. Finally, I am home again in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, 'where it all began' so to speak. I decided to come home after all these years not only because I missed this place, but also so I could be somewhere where I was simply 'just Harry' and not some popstar tabloid sensation. Mind you I have nothing against being the famous Harry Styles, I love my life and I am eternally grateful, yet whilst the band is on hiatus I'm going to take this as time to be someone other than just some famous celebrity; time to be me.
I unpack my things slowly, drinking in the surroundings of my oh-so-familiar bedroom I grew up in. I was at my mum's house, the house I mainly lived in whilst growing up. 4 white walls covered in pictures of friends and family, and some I'd taken myself, my rickety old bed, a small brown desk in the corner overrun with books, and a large shelf littered with nick-knacks and trinkets I had picked up on my travels and cherished as a child. After everything I'd been through, my room had always stayed relatively the same, and that was how I liked it. When you are on the road so much it was nice to come back to a constant, it brought back memories. I remember when we bought the desk when I was 8, from some dingy, old shop down an alley somewhere. I remember when I first received my letter from Hogwarts at 11. Sitting on the bed with my mother's arms around me, so proud, my older sister Gemma smirking as she had already been at the school a few years.
I remember it all so well, I was in Gryffindor respectively, like my sister and mother before me. I loved Hogwarts and made some great friends there, however most wizarding career paths just weren't for me. I tried Herbology and Potions and even Divination but nothing really seemed to click. I could ride a broom, yet I was no Quidditch superstar, I could do basic spells and self-defence, yet my OWLs proved that I wasn't really something special when it came to magic. So, I dropped out of school at 16 trying to make it big time in the muggle world by signing up for Xfactor. My dad is a muggle you see, and my mum a witch, so I'd been bought up in both the wizarding and non- wizarding worlds of England and whilst the wizarding world was good, the thought of being a singer in the muggle world fascinated me. So, at the age of 16 my older sister Gemma, who had already graduated from school, took me off to London where I began my journey, and the rest is history.
