This story happens five years after the events of Invasion, all that will be told comes in a direct composite of Earth-16 and New Earth.
It is a story of love, loss, hatred, justice, revenge, heroism, complexity and generalization of the true meaning of being a super hero.
The twilight of the first generation falls and a new one begins at dawn.
The Age of Heroes was a phenomenon that began around the turn of the century, when large bodies of superheroes were split into the groups Justice League and Young Justice. Kids, playing the role of sidekicks, were given the chance to take on a quest of independence from their adult mentors and train themselves for the outside world. Burdening tasks and perilous adventures turned into the blazes of war against the terrorist organization known as the Light.
Across the surface of the planet Earth, stunned beings watched in horror and amazement as the battles unfolded live on the national news channels. Everyone who knew these superheroes knew that the war on terrorism had been going badly.
The nightmare that they were all living in had gotten worse.
The Justice League, who had been pardoned by the council of Rimbor had been captured by the Coluan Vril Dox, aka Brainiac and an army of rogue Kryptonians from The Phantom Zone in a surprise attack on the Hall of Justice. Several of General Sam Lane's best men, who were responsible for guarding the hall, were cut down by Brainiac's drones within seconds.
Without the Justice League, Earth will fall into Brainiac's collection.
The team, known as Young Justice would come for them at any minute.
They say this as though these names can conjure miracles.Young Justice consisted of Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Tim Drake/the third Robin, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Stephanie Brown/Spoiler, Kon-El/Superboy, Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Cassandra Sandsmark/Wonder Girl, Kyle Rayner/the fourth Green Lantern, Bart Allen/Kid Flash, Roy Harper/Red Arrow, Artemis Crock/Tigress, Connor Hawke/the second Green Arrow, Cissie King-Jones/Arrowette, M'gann M'orzz/Miss Martian, Kaldur'ahm/Aqualad, Raquel Ervin/Rocket, Zatanna Zatara and her brother Zachary, Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, Karen Beecher/Bumblebee, Mal Duncan/Guardian, La'gaan/Lagoon Boy, Traci Thirteen, Charley Parker/Golden Eagle, the brothers Henry and Donald Hall/Hawk and Dove, Lilith Clay, Duela Dent/Joker's Daughter, Freddy Freeman/Captain Marvel Jr., Mary Marvel and Virgil Hawkins/Static.
Other members, most of them who operated on the ground or served as backup crew, included Tara Markov/Terra, Joseph Wilson/Jericho, Gnarrk, Cody Driscoll/Risk, Danny Chase/Phantasm, Leonid Kovar/Red Son, Rachel Roth/Raven, Isaiah Crockett/Hot Spot, Audrey Spears/Prysm, Antonia Monetti/Argent and Miguel Devante/Vulcan.
From the beginning, the phase Batman and Robin had become a single word, now Robin had moved from the Bat's shadow to lead others who were around his age.
Kids from all around the world knew their superhero names, and almost everything about them except their personal lives. Nightwing would rather fight than joke, but others, such as Kid Flash, or Impulse as he was known, would make a few cracks before whooping a guy's ass from behind.
Now they were on their way, knowing they when they got to Brainiac's ship, General Dru-Zod and his followers were going to wish that they had stayed in the Phantom Zone.
Adults knew better, of course, as they had some form of instinct that underneath those colorful costumes, the supers and their enemies were just normal people.
But normal or not, the team had families as well, families in the form of their mentors.
In their Bio-Ship, they blasted off into outer space and toward a new chapter in their lives.
