The week following the funeral had been made up of beautiful Summer days until that Sunday. The forecast hadn't shown anything about the turbulent storm clouds that had started to gather in front of the sun's rays, neither had it warned how abruptly the storm would approach. But as the thunder begins rumbling overhead, Scott finally gets the feeling that his parents were so sure would come.

He just hadn't known it would be so uncomfortable.

Keeping up with Mitch's schedule had taken a toll on his body the night before and he needed all the rest he could get. Meaning, he overslept that day.

Just as noon had gone by, Scott's eyes shot open and his breath caught in his chest. He felt as if he was being smothered, but no one was physically here with him. That he knew for sure; he would have woken up sooner.

His already peeking bottom canines grew completely beyond his bottom lip, eyes flashing cobalt without his control due to the shift. An unknown sensation was pinching and prodding its way through his torso, settling around his stomach, his heart, and his lungs. The dull burn of it all brought about emotions that Scott could only interpret as fright and desperation, and there was no mistaking what it was. Who it was.

Now, he understands the sudden thunder.

A howl fierce enough to shake the cabin escaped his throat against his better judgement, and he scrambled from his bed, shredding his sheets on his claws as he threw them off. The beast within had awoken once again and had completely taken over.

Multiple scenarios to explain the sudden grip around his heart flew through in his mind just as quickly as he moved. He headed straight to the source of the sensation that had him freaking out, with his body huge and imposing. This time he didn't care who saw him like this. Mitch was reaching for him for the first time in 567 days and there had to be a good reason.

Adrenaline had all of his already enhanced senses kicked into overdrive and he could smell the boy in the distance, even over the strong scent of wet dirt. The pouring rain got through the dense trees and matted his fur, and his hind legs became covered in the building mud as he ran across the forest. Luckily, the run was relatively short and easy when running on long legs was paired with inhuman speed, his movement was nothing but a mere blur.

When he reached the house his core had lead him to, he growled low and uncontrollably. It was an olive-green bungalow styled home, as were most of the houses on this block, but that was about to change. The street was calm besides the blaring music and stench of alcohol coming from within this one structure, so he was sure he would draw attention soon. The beast carelessly emerged from the trees and stalked across the street to the front door, immediately lifting a clawed foot and kicking it open. An outline of his muddy foot is bound to be left on the white paint but he doesn't check to see.

The door swung fast, hitting the wall with a bang. Surprisingly, no one inside seemed to had been aware of his break-in, though. Maybe they were too occupied to realize that the noise wasn't a part of the heavy bass filled song. Either way, it was going to make things a lot easier for the beast. He'd have the element of surprise.

He ducked his intimidating being down and turned sideways to fit through the doorway, following the tugging of his heart. A staircase sat to his right, a family room to his left. He could hear raised voices talking frantically over one another at the top of the stairs, whereas the rest of the home was void of people. So he went right, scaling the steps four at a time.

He maneuvered around the bend of the railing without much hassle and moved stealthily down the annoyingly narrow hall. A door was ajar towards the end of it and as he approaches, he can't stop his snarling. Mitch's salty scent of distress is coming from that same room.
