"Daddy?"

Dean is awoken by a soft voice and a small hand poking at his back. He grumbles and sits up, carefully removing his arms from around his angel. He turns his head to read the fuzzy green numbers on the digital clock sitting on their bedside table, and groans once more when he realizes what time it is.

"Lucas, it's 2:00 in the morning, you should be asleep. What is it?"

Lucas opens his mouth to speak, but is interrupted when a clap of thunder loud enough to feel it resonate in your chest breaks the silence. Lucas nearly jumps out of his skin, and hugs his teddy bear close.

Castiel merely mutters incoherent words in his sleep and rolls over, reaching out for his hunter. Dean reaches out a hand to hold Castiel's, and looks to Lucas, saying,

"What am I gonna do with you?"

Lucas gives a small smile, and quietly asks,

"Could, could you make hot chocolate, Daddy? Like last time?"

Dean smiles at the memory.

A particularly loud crash of thunder had scared Dean out of his sleepy stupor, only for him to realize the space next to him was empty. No angel. Instinctually, Dean sat up and reached for the gun on the bedside table. His senses were no longer clouded by drowsiness.

Dean's ears perked up when he heard noise coming from the kitchen. He crept down the stairs silently, tense and on full alert. His old habits never seemed to fade, and at times like this he was thankful for that.

Another loud clap of thunder shook the house as Dean turned the corner, and he could hear Castiel's voice. He poked his head in the doorway and saw Castiel sitting at the island, with a steaming mug in his grasp, and Lucas sitting across from him, a mug also in his tiny hands.

Dean relaxed immediately and let out a breath he didn't even realize he was holding. He placed the handgun on the kitchen counter, and walked over to join his angels at the island. He took the seat next to Lucas and said,

"Hey buddy, what are you doing up?"

Lucas looked up to Dean with his bright hazel eyes and said,

"It's storming outside, Daddy. The thunder. It- it woke me up."

Dean ruffled his son's hair and said,

"That's okay Luke, the thunder woke me up, too."

Lucas smiled sweetly, and took a sip from his straw.

"Papa made us some hot chocolate!"

Dean looked up to Castiel, who was patting the seat next him. Dean chuckled and obeyed, standing up and seating himself next to his lover instead. He wrapped an arm around Cas' waist lovingly, and buried his face in the angel's neck.

"You left me alone, you dick."

Castiel laughed, and patted Dean's shoulder,

"I love you, too."

Dean smiled against Cas' neck, and turned his head so he could watch Lucas giggle quietly as he blew through the straw, forming chocolate-y bubbles.

A crash of thunder broke the peacefulness, and Lucas gave a loud squeak of fear.

Dean frowned, and said,
