Into the Deep

Being a vampire is tougher then it seems. I've only been one for a week now and I'm still not used to it. The bloodlust is especially not fun to deal with it. But, Alexandra always makes sure my cravings are fulfilled. A couple times we snuck into the city for some supplies then snuck back out. As long as the routine guards don't see us it's easy to get in and out.
Adjusting to my new home has been kinda of difficult. Normally I'm used to my somewhat sunny apartment on the far end of my district. I would sit on my bed and just lay in the sun's warmth. But, at Alexandra's house it's always dark and at times gloomy. No sunlight leaks in leaving shadows to haunt me. It reminds me of something from those cliche horror movies.
My thought process was interrupted as someone placed a blindfold over my eyes. It triggered my fight or flight response but I resisted it,"Alex(no I'm not changing his name mid chapter it's a nickname)?".
"Just trust me, I'm taking you somewhere but it's a surprise,"excitement present in his voice. I got up from my seat and gave him my full trust,"well let's go to this surprise." He led me out of my room and into the hallway. I followed blindly pun intended.  Soon I felt the brisk autumn air and shivered,"Where on earth are we going"I asked.

"You'll see Amelia, you'll see,"he said. We walked for what felt like an eternity and then he stopped me, I heard him move something. It sounded like something metal by the ringing noise it made. I couldn't think of what else it could be. I then heard the crunching sound of leaves as he went back over to me. One moment I was standing the next I was swept off my feet and in his arms. He didn't tell me why he picked me up or even why he needed to. He dropped down into what must have been a hole. I heard his feet clang onto metal telling me we had reached the bottom. He placed me down gently, he always treated me like something fragile. I noticed it after about my third day of staying at the mansion. He was always gently when he touched me. It was almost like he was afraid of breaking me. Maybe he was I wouldn't know, I don't know much about his past. He was a mystery, a puzzle I wanted to solve. And boy was I going to solve it.

"Um where are we?"I asked.

"An old sewer, it's some of the only remains of America that "The Utopia" hasn't destroyed,"he replied.

         "America?,"I said.

"It was the country that existed before "The Utopia", America also known as the USA was the land of the free now it is land of the brainwashed, after what you call The Father took over he ripped apart everything the USA was for,"he replied his voice saddening.
"But why is he after things like us,"I asked.
"Because, big companies use us to make there products we are killed off because they want to research us, perfume really does help attract people now because it uses vampires pheromones, werewolves are killed for their fur coats and their regenerative abilities, fairies are killed for their fairy dust to make better transportation, and the list goes on and on, we are just cattle to them,"he explained.
I gasped, for I never thought anything of the products I used to use. But it made sense, they never told us how it was made. They have millions of people brainwashed that the society they live in is perfect. I wanted to stop the government from what it was doing but I'm one person and that would be suicide.
We continued walking and then after awhile we stopped again. He knocked on a door and a voice said,"Alexandra good to see you, I see you brought someone with you, did you finally get yourself a blood slave".
"No, this is my new companion, Amelia show him your fangs,"Alexandra commanded me.
I did what he asked and let my fangs show. I guess it was verification to the person he was talking to that I wasn't a human.
"See, a vampire just like me,"he said.
I heard the doors creak open letting us into whatever he wanted to show me. Alexandra said goodbye to who he was talking to and led me into it. We stopped and he took off my blind fold. What I saw was something I had never seen before. A city completely underground.
"So what do you think Amelia,"he asked me.
"It's amazing Alex a city underground, who would of thought,"excitement clear in my voice.
"Follow me Amelia, I have a place I want to show you,"he said gesturing for me to follow.
I did what he asked me to, catching up to him even though I knew he wasn't going to leave me behind. "Where are we off to,"I asked.
"A tea shop, thought we could sit down and talk before we get down to business,"he replied.
"Okay sounds good,"I told him. I took in the sights it was so very different from where I used to live. This city was full of life and no one was brainwashed. It was beautiful to see a place I could make an actually life for myself with free will. As I was thinking this Alexandra pulled me into a shop.
"We're here Amelia,"he said walking me into the building and picking a seat for us. I sat down and looked at the menu sitting in front of me.
"You should probably get the blood rose tea, there may not be much blood in it but it should hold you over until we get home,"Alexandra said.
"How did you know I was almost in bloodlust,"I asked.
"Well, you've gone a couple hours without it and your starting to show sighs,"he replied. He then turned to the waitress and ordered our drinks. This was the usual for me, he always treated me like a child. It was annoying at times well most of the time.
"So, what did that guy mean by blood slave,"I broke my silence.
"Well most vampires bringing in someone blind folded turns out to be a blood slave, blood slaves are humans that vampires keep alive to feed off them, you end up having two groups of them ones who are afraid of their master and ones who adore them obsessively,"he replied.
"Oh, so um what's the serious business we need to talk about,"I asked.
"We need to talk about your etiquette for when your in the city, it can be dangerous if you don't do what I'm about to tell you,"his tone becoming more serious.
"Okay what do I need to do,"I said.
"One, stay near me at all times, your a female vampire and they're not common other males will try to get their hands on you and I don't want to have to do the alternative plan, two, make sure you know who you are talking to many pure bloods are in this city and they are basically royalty and three, don't do anything I wouldn't do you understand Amelia". His voice was serious, which was very unlike him. I know that he really did mean the rules he set in place. I was surprised that he cared so much about my safety. I never had anyone care like this before.
I smiled at him and said,"okay, I understand". I finished my sentence and out drinks came. I quickly started drinking mine smelling the blood instantly. It relieved my bloodlust leaving me feel refreshed. Alex laughed watching me act like a child who had just found candy for the first time. He treated me like a disobedient child but I knew he cared for me. He sometimes he pretended not to but I can see it in his eyes and how he talks. He's gotten attached to something about me and I was one day going to find out what it was.
