I Let Her Go- Niall Imagine
“Hey Ni I was wondering if—Niall? Is something wrong?” Liam asks as soon as he walks into my hotel room. The sight of me sprawled out on my bed with red cheeks stained with tears must not have been pretty. I sniffled a few times before shaking my head no. I hear Liam move toward my bed, but he hesitates on whether or not he should sit. I scoot over to the edge of the bed, showing him it’s fine if he does.
“What’s up? Where’s (Y/N)?” Liam asks, and just her name pushes me over the edge and back into a state of hysteria. Liam must’ve connected the dots, and realized that something happened between us. “What happened?” He asks, moving a hand to pat my back.
“I- I- I let her go!” I practically scream it. Liam doesn’t ask any questions, he just waits for me to explain. “I told her that I wasn’t good enough for her… That I wasn’t worth the long distances and months apart… That she deserves better,” I say, trying to choke back my tears, “I broke up with her, Liam. I told her to find someone worth her time, someone who can be there for her when she needs him, someone… someone who’s not me.” I tell him, my breath catching in the back of my throat as I think about her face when I said it was over, that we were over.
“Now why would you do a stupid thing like that, Niall?” Liam was known for his tough love and advice, but right now I didn’t need it. Right now I just needed a good ass long cry, and a drink.
“Because Liam, I love her. I want her to be happy, and I feel like I can’t do that thousands of miles away from her.” I clutch the closest pillow tightly to my chest as I try to even my breath.
“Ni, I see you two together all the time, and she’s nothing but happy. You two bring out the best in each other, you guys were made for each other. I don’t exactly believe in soulmates, but if I did, it would be you two.”
“She was the best thing that ever happened to me Liam. I don’t know where I’ll be without her. I don’t think I will ever find a girl as loving, caring, hilarious, and beautiful as her.”
“Mate, you can’t blame this on anyone else but yourself. If she means that much to you, it’s up to you to keep her, to hold her close and never let her go. I would say I’m sorry, but I’m not. You brought this upon yourself. If you love her, you can’t let her go.” Liam tells me, in a nice yet stern manner.
It takes me a minute to process his words, and when I do, I immediately stand up from my bed and run for my coat. I grab my phone and call the front desk to pull up a car for me. I’m almost done buttoning my jacket when Liam asks, “What are you doing? Where are you going?”
I look him straight in the eye and say, “The airport. I have 45 minutes to fix this, I have to fix us. I need her Liam, and I can’t let her get on that flight home.” I sprint for the door and down the hallway, and all I hear in the background is Liam yelling, “That’s my boy! Go get her!”
