I have no idea from where the fuck y'all got the idea that Hispanic is a synonym for Latinx, because it isn't.

Now I know that there are a lot of people with common sense who use these terms correctly, but the amount of times I've seen them used as if they're interchangeable is ridiculous. In fact, I saw it today on Twitter, so I thought I'd publish this lesson if anyone ever has the doubt.

hispanic: relating to Spain or Spanish-speaking countries.

latinx: relating to people of Latin American origin or descent.

See the difference? It's not that hard! You can be Hispanic if you're from Spain, and that doesn't make you Latinx. You can be Latinx and not Hispanic, like Brazilian people, because in their country they speak Portuguese. Mexican people, for example, are Hispanic. If your character is played by Camila Mendes, Camila Queiroz or Barbie Ferreira (all Brazilian faceclaims), they're not going to be Hispanic, because they're not from a Spanish-speaking country. Get it?

I hope this educates at least someone.
