“Austin, stop! My stomach hurts!” I laughed as my best friend continued to tickle me, ignoring my pleas. “Never Ally! Unless you say Austin Moon is the hottest person ever.” He replied with a smirk. “No, I would rather die!” "What did you say princess?” he said as he tickled my stomach harder than before. “Fine, Austin Moon is the hottest person ever!” He stood up from the couch giving me a chance to catch my breath. His forehead crinkled causing his lips to form into a frown as his dark brown eyes flickered to his beeping phone. “I’ll be right back. You know how I can’t keep Kira waiting,” he said shooting me a sad smile as he dashed out of the room.
Austin and I had been best friends since we began high school. He was like a brother to me until I realized a month or two ago that I wanted to be more than that. Austin was one of the most popular guys at our school which meant that he dated the most popular girl, Kira Michaels. Ever since Kira found out about my crush on Austin, she and her friends have bullied me every chance that they get. Just yesterday she started up another terrible rumor about me. Since Kira is popular, she made everyone think that I was a horrible person and caused all my friends, except Austin, to go against me. He was never told about the things that Kira said or did to me and I planned on keeping it that way. I sometimes wish that he would break up with that terrible witch, but it will never happen. Especially since he doesn’t see her for whom she really is.
“I gotta go, Kira wants me to be at her house A.S.A.P.” he chuckled, bringing me out of my thoughts. I stood up from the old grey couch causing the room to creak, as the springs inside bounced out of its release. The navy blue carpet clung to my feet as I made my way over to the mahogany door where he waited patiently for me. As I pulled him into a bone crushing hug, I whispered in his ear, “Please call me when you have a chance.”
He pulled back and smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. Before I could question him about it, he kissed my cheek and closed the door behind him. My cheeks glowed red as I watched him get in his car and drive away. I trudged up into my room, fell onto the bed, and thought about Austin as I drifted off to sleep.
