...And he stared at the door wondering what on earth and why the hell had he brought this woman with an unknown history to his home.

He admitted he acted irrationally sometimes but most times it brought about excellent results, he was hoping he would not be wrong this time.

He wondered what could possibly hindering her ability to speak, the doctor had said something about Post Trauma. He turned towards his room and walked into the room, tossed his car keys on the bedside drawer and took off his clothes and walked to his bathroom.

He sat in his jacuzzi and closed his eyes as the water washed away the grime he had accumulated on his body. He finished his bath and changed into a black polo and ash sweatpants, he headed downstairs to the bar for a quick drink, not quite ready to sleep just yet.

He poured himself a glass of wine and sat  down in his living room as he turned on the tv. He tuned in to the M-net channel and sipped his drink as he watched silently.

His mind however was far away, it was back in that burning building, what on earth could make a human so willing to die, he had seen it in her eyes when he had held her in the arms.

Maybe that was why he had seemed so taken with her because she puzzled him but what could've happened and this was why he hated it when his curiosity was sparked, he couldn't stop until he was satisfied.

Stephen Ruess was the owner of the one of the biggest multi-functional companies that produced almost about anything; clothes, furniture, vehicles, you name it, they even offered interior decorating services.

He had made himself successful all on his own but when he was less busy, he volunteered for the Special Weapons And Tactics team in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, it was risky and he knew it but he was, what was it again, irrational, yes that and besides what was life without risks, that was his motto.

Most cases, he volunteered because the map-out of the case which had either incited his curiosity or because of the high rate of the risk and that was how he had come across that camp that had been around for 6 years, it was an old case but the FBI had been persistent, carefully plotting out their plan, sending in a spy to trail the camp's movement and report back until they they were fully equiped and ready to attack and their waiting had paid off.
They hadn't captured the mastermind behind this but since the entire camp went up in flames, erased from the face of the earth, he was presumed dead.

And that was how he had come upon the lady that was sleeping in the room beside his bedroom. Other survivors from the camp had been sent to their various families and each had gone back to their normal lives though still fazed by the experience, they would never be the same.

He had one of the agents keep him up to date but since the case had been solved, they had no idea what to do with her seeing as she had gone into coma. So he had made them appoint him to take her and send reports so they could find her family.

He sighed, finally he was sleepy, he dropped his glass and headed upstairs. He paused at the door of her room and watched as she thrashed around in her bed before he pushed the door and stepped into the room as he walked towards her bed and stood beside it watching her as she thrashed around and her features were twisted in what looked like pain.

Slowly he reached down and took her hand in his, it took a minute before she relaxed and her features presented a picture of calmness. He tried to release her hand when she gripped his tighter and opened her eyes a little before closing them and releasing his hand.

Gwen woke up and squinted her eyes at the blinding sun, she sat up and looked around before recalling everything that happened the previous day. She brought up her knees and wrapped her arms around them, was she finally free? No, it wasn't possible, she knew how fate worked now, get her hopes up then crush them with no mercy.

She stood up and stared at the mirror before raising her shirt as she viewed the tattoo, as long as it was there, they would always haunt her. She dropped her shirt and turned around when a maid walked in

"Goodmorning miss, the young master requests your presence for breakfast. I had prepared a bath while you were asleep"

Gwen looked at her intensely as the maid squirmed underneath her gaze before she headed to bathroom

"I'll have a dress ready before you're done with your bath" the maid said as she enterd the bathroom

She slipped out of her clothes, stepped into the jacuzzi and sighed heavily as the warm bath soothed her stiff muscles. She washed up, dried her body and wrapped a towel around herself before stepping out.

On the bed was a light blue dress that the maid had picked out, was breakfast a formal occasion? she wondered as she slipped on the dress, it was a plain dress with a tight fitting bodice and was loose from the waist line down to the hem which stopped above her knee.

The maid offered to attend to her hair and led her to sit in front of the vanity mirror as she rubbed some oil before passing a comb through her blond tresses. After that, Gwendoline was led down towards the dining room where breakfast was already arranged on the table.

"I suggest you take a seat miss, i'll go inform the master of your presence"

As soon as the maid left, Gwen relaxed a bit she was on the edge around people, she couldn't trust anyone, she still believed someone out there was out to hurt her.

She looked around the room, the curtains had been open enabling light into the room. The table had food that could feed an army but each dish was covered on silver platters and just then Stephen strolled in

"Sorry i'm late, i didn't mean to keep you waiting"he said as he took while two maids entered the room to open up the several dishes that had been placed on the table.

"I had no idea what you preferred so i had the cook prepare different courses, so go ahead, eat what you like" he said as he served himself

She hesitated before taking up a fork and sampling the dishes, serving unto her plate whatever soothed her tastebuds.

As she settled down to eat, Stephen proceeded to tell her what would happen now that she had arrived and also all about himself, at least the parts that she needed to know.
