Harry's pov
Today was the day. Our dad was coming over.
Our parents divorced when we were like 9 or 10. It was a very sad and stressful time for all three of us. Marcel used to cry himself to sleep and have these awful nightmares every single night. Ward was just angry. He used to punch holes in the walls in his room. He separated himself from us. He was, and still can be, very introvert and distant. And then there was me, confused, constantly blaming myself for the prospect of mom and dad splitting up. Mom was really good with us. She basically brought us up by herself since our dad was never around and was doing everything she could to make this experience the least painful. Every two or three months our father is coming to see us. He travels a lot so every time he comes, it's from a different place. He also has a new family now which is.. weird. He even has a daughter with this woman, I mean with Sandra. She's lovely but, like Ward once said "she's nice and pretty but neither beauty nor fake kindness can hold a conversation". That was true. She wasn't the brightest but our father loved her so we had to accept her. His daughter and our half-sister Quincy was about 8 years old and was more than spoiled. But there was no point for us to even worry about that. We didn't really get to see her that often.
Our father was a workaholic and never a proper family guy so for him to come all this way just to spend three days with us was just mind-blowing.
I admire our mom letting him in into her own house just to make us happy. I'm not sure whether she knows how much it means to us and how much we appreciate her commitment. Don't get me wrong, my parents were never enemies. They remained friends but I can only imagine how she feels hosting him after all they've been through.
"He's here" I heard my mom yell from downstairs. I raced to the front door to find him standing there and hugging her gently.
"This time only two hours late" she added and he chuckled.
"That's a progress then." He said smirking. "Oh hey son" he smiled at my sight. I came up to him and wrapped my arms around him. Two seconds later my brothers joined in and we had a nice, long group hug.
"Dinner in 30" mom said walking out and going to the kitchen.
"Okay" we all replied.
"How is it going boys. Are you going easy on your mother or are you still the devils?" He asked when we pulled back. We laughed at his remark. It's true. We were hard to handle sometimes but he knew that we loved mom more than anything.
"And how are you Dad? Marcel asked adjusting his new glasses.
"I'm fine son just so fucking tired, you know" he lowered his voice a bit so that mom wouldn't hear him. We laughed. Swearing was pretty normal to him while mom absolutely hated it and would always make a scene about it back when they were still together. It's understandable though. What mother would like to have her husband, the role model for her children, swear in the house.
"Same here dad. School's been kicking our asses big time lately" I sighed.
"Watch your language boy" he smirked messing up my hair.
We helped him take his things to his bedroom. He was staying in the guest room upstairs as always.
He was telling us all of the crazy adventures that he'd had like the time he went sailing with a friend and they got stuck in the middle of nowhere cause they've forgotten to fuel the boat.
Finally it was dinner time. We all sat by the table, ate pasta and talked.
"There's no meat in this?" Dad asked surprised.
"Umm yeah.. we rarely eat meat at home to be honest." I informed him. We've all forgotten he was such a meat-lover.
"And why is that?" He continued looking at me funny.
"Yyy mom is vegetarian and Ward is vegan so it's just easier for mom that way. She doesn't have to cook two separate meal. That'd be too much work. If we want it we can cook it ourselves, can we Marce. Or order it or something.." I explained politely.
"You're vegan?" He looked at Ward who just nodded. "When did that happen?" He shook his head. "Nevermind.. guys I want you to be honest with me now.. any girls?"
"I'm seeing Izzy at the moment but it's not a big deal I think.." I shrugged and made his head snap up from his plate.
"Izzy? Go Harry! She's really... Ho-pretty. She's really pretty, son. Congratulations." He smiled at me proudly. "And that's it H?" I chuckled while mom almost choked on her drink.
"How many girls do you want him to have, Chris?" Mom chimed in.
"Oh Anna I'm kidding. C'mon.. what about you Edward?" He looked at my little brother who was clearly uncomfortable with the question. Not a lot of people knew that he got his heart broken by this Door girl. Real bitch for doing that.
Edward just shook his head no.
"It's probably the veganism.." dad muttered quietly.
"Christopher." Mom warned him.
"I'm joking!" He repeated.
"And what about Dior, honey?" Mom asked what only made him tense up. I cleared my throat hoping she will get the hint. She didn't.
"Who's Dior?" Dad asked exited.
"They were dating for a few months.. I haven't seen her here in ages though.." she was literally torturing Ward there. I was watching him. He can blow up every second now. Every second.
"We broke up." He said calmy and took a sip of his drink. "That happens sometimes in relationships if you know what I mean.."
"Hey look at him. He speaks. And he's not being nice, what a surprise.."
Dad commented on Word quite a lot. Which was kind of irritating at some point and I'm pretty sure he was gonna get to this point real soon.
