Birds screeched painfully down to my lifeless body as I awoke. With a shaky hand, I brushed the sand from my eyes. The clothing I once wore was now torn, damp and clinging to my skin. Before my vision had a chance to return, the smell of rot clouded my judgement as to where I was. My eyelids eventually gained the strength needed to part from one another, waves crashing against a white shore filled my field of view. Sun attacked my already aching head, driving me to madness as I looked around.
Beneath me, soft flakes of white sand flowed through and around my fingers, dancing in the gentle breeze that invited my hair along to join. Icy water, blue in colour, washed over my feet; I could have sworn I had shoes but I couldn't remember. My imprisoned mind struggled to remember anything before I awoke. As I looked further, trees waved and welcomed me into the distance, though I didn't dare move from my current position. The beach that held had me seemed endless. Miles of sand with no life to speak of, apart from me and what appeared to be gulls above my head.
The knocking pangs of agony hit me once again as I shielded and rescued my eyes from the blaring light. Washed up on the shore, just a few metres away, a box, some rope, and a plank of wood or two lay just like me. Somehow, the seemed familiar, yet I wouldn't know fur sure. Sighing heavily, I gently lay back and let the grains bind my body, soothing my skin from the torment it had previously endured. The sun was high in the sky so I assumed it to be around 12, or something like that. I once again closed my eyes, almost expecting to wake up and for it to have all been a dream yet I never seemed to happen. By that point I just knew, this was not going to end well.
