Nadia's POV

(Note to all readers: I will write a brief introduction to the character doing the POV so that you will understand them better unless you are from 6H)

Nadia is what we call a very clingy person, and she has a very annoying nickname that she has grown to like- Catwoman. The boys all hate her, some of the girls totally ignore her, but in her eyes, her best friend is Ariel, even though Ariel does not really enjoy her company.

I watched as Ariel made her way slowly towards her locker, and when she approached her locker I pounced onto her playfully. "Arrriel!!!" I squealed as I tugged at her arm with a grin on my face. She groaned in reply and waved her arm, trying to shake off my grip. "Nadia, can you please stop doing that?" she muttered with a frown as she struggled to pull my hands off her arm. I smiled at her coyly and muttered cheekily, "Nope!" I tightened my grip on her arm and she hissed at me, "Can you please don't? Zion is here!" I stuck out my tongue playfully in return and darted off behind the locker again, peeking out with the corners of my mouth reaching my ears. Right on cue, Zion walked in and Ariel switched to fiddling with her combination on the locker. I felt my eyebrows go up as Zion walked closer to her. He stuck a hand in his pocket, flicked a strand of his hair back to its place with his free hand and he wolf-whistled as he walked past her with his eyes not leaving her back for even a second. I stifled a giggle and burst into laughter after he had entered the classroom, slamming the door behind him.

"Do you think he liiiikes you?" I asked, smiling like a pyscho. Her cheeks lingered with a pink hue that she left unnoticed and she replied nonchalantly, "No." She finally got her lock combination correct and she pushed the locker door in my face, preoccupying herself with finding whatever she was looking for in that tiny closet. I lingered around her locker, constantly banging on her locker door with my knuckles to amuse myself as my bestie looked through her organised locker. (PS don't tell her I thought of her as my bestie - but she could be!) Joel opened the classroom door and he waved his arms like a very expressive circus ringmaster as he shouted at us with widened eyes, "Are you ladies done being lesbians? When you are finally done can you come in?! Sheesh..." I folded my arms at him and spat like a stubborn toddler, "Meanie!" He rubbed his temples with his fingers and he stomped back into the classroom, yelling at the rest of the people in the class to keep quiet. Hearing Ariel's locker door bang against her locker, I turned towards her making a creepy smile. She took one look at my face and made the right decision to run back into the classroom without thought.

Ariel's a nice person. Thought she hates me clinging onto her like I poured glue on my arm and plastered myself onto her or whatever, she's a good person. I mean, she's so much better than me in almost all her exams. Plus, she's nice and caring! She hates it when I'm being teasy, but she is okay with me sticking to her. Anyway, though she is a lot taller than me and the eldest girl in the entire class, I can say she might be smarter than people her own age and too mature to be 12. I forgot to give her her birthday present this year though... She doesn't express her feelings as much as I do, but she's okay! In class, I mostly bug her but she doesn't really seem very triggered at my presence. I really want to know more about her but I guess I have to stop grabbing her arm every time no teacher is around. To me that's pretty much fine but this make me look and seem weirder each time I do stuff? I mean, I'm okay, (or so-called sober) at times, but is it that not okay enough? To be honest, that's not the only barrier between me and my friendship (or bestfriendship) with Ariel, there's really 2 more. Yes, one is Zion. To me he looks just fine, leaning dangerously towards the  'looking cool' side, but dude! He's an average, normal slobbery BOY!!! Ariel's the type that conceals her emotions very, very well, but that doesn't mean that she can't show even a tinge of a sign. They show when he just walks into a meter radius of her. Urgh! That cringey boy! That's not the only slobby, BOY barrier. There is also Ariel's brother: Asher, the gangster, ruthless to all, except his girlfriend(just a guess, but really, who likes him??). I have no idea! He is in Secondary 4 this year, and his hair has blue, silver and red streaks. Just looking at him doesn't even ring a bell about Ariel. They are like pictures from different family albums!! He looks like he isn't even related to Ariel! He's okay, I guess, but his attitude is of a spoiled kid. Why can't she stay away from them?

Miss G, our teacher, was speaking in variations of tones, trying to teach us how to read a passage with a wonderful tone, even though it was obvious that no one was listening. I spied on Ariel at the corner of my eye, clearly bored to death. She sits next to Zion, but he always moves to the front because of his extremely poor eyesight, and Ariel doesn't really seem to care. As I mentioned, she's unreadable, because of that blank face of hers. I rolled my eyes slightly, right when the person over the PA system announced, "Ariel from class 6H, please come down to the office. Your brother is... waiting. I repeat, Ariel from class 6H, please come down to the office. Your brother is waiting. Thank you." The class grew silent and 40 other heads turned to face Ariel, including me. Almost everyone knew Asher and we all spoke ill of him. Miss G plastered back the smile that dropped off her face when the announcement was made and she told me to follow Ariel downstairs, so she would be notified by me if they were going to take a while. Exiting the class, we grabbed permission tags from the front of the class, trodding past the classrooms filled with the teacher's nagging amplified by microphones. Ariel stayed surprisingly silent in this situation, dipping her head as if she had committed a crime. I swallowed a remark and ditched the idea of gripping her arm playfully. The eerie silence hanging in the air was plain awful and I just had to clear my throat to break it for the shortest minute. Ariel gave me a glance but continued looking the floor, as if she wanted me to say something before she did. There were words lodged in her throat, but she wouldn't let it out, making her stay quiet for the short journey.

As we both predicted, Ariel's dear brother was not being praised by the principal, not holding a certificate of some accomplishment, whatever positive. His hair was dyed a flaming red, reflecting his mood, gelled into some spiky hairstyle, looking like there was a hedgehog on his head. The blue streaks in this hair made his hair look like the American flag. Technically looking like a joke. Asher glared at our principal, Mdm Lou, also known as the 'Googly-eyed puppet', the principal of both the primary and secondary school I was studying in. Her eyes bulged in anger once again as her eyes met Ariel's and mine. The scary-ugly face sent chills down my spine as she spoke through gritted teeth, "Asher C., five times repeat offender, has now committed a very serious crime in his classroom, here in this compound. The worse part? He did it with a noble." You didn't need to be 12 to know what a noble is. [If you don't know, a noble is a person who has or shows high personal qualities or moral principals. Take note, I Googled this, because I also don't know what is a noble -_-] "Did he get into a fight?" Ariel finally spoke, her voice raspy and she sounded like she was croaking. Asher's features softened at his sister's worried face. It was obvious that he loved his little sister more than anything in this world, him unclenching his tightly-clenched fists realising his sister's worry. He looked at Ariel with a gentle look, as though they were about to skip to a kiddy tea party or somewhere far away from this world with nothing to worry about. For a brief moment, I saw the smart, mature scholar behind the hard and merciless features of his. But just then, Mdm Lou clicked her tongue and continued, "He picked up a violent fight with... the man that had angered him, which just so happens to be the 'richest kid in the world', Vincent S." The principal rubbed her temples and furrowed her eyebrows, flipping through some important looking documents laid out messily on her table. "He should have been expelled by now. But-" she looked at the vice principal that was sitting quietly in a corner, then finished, "-if we do, it seems that our average results would decrease by 11- no, 12.5 points in total." Yes, Ariel's brother is that smart. He may communicate with his fists, have a more colourful vocabulary than most students, but he can score grades higher than the Empire State Building (very high) without studying an entire year (which is what he is doing like, right now)! Ariel's eyes met with the floor.
