An Angel In Disguise (Misty)

"No!" She shouted, fighting against the chains that bound her to the wall. "Don't touch her!" She screamed, hot tears cascading down her cheeks. 

"Mama?"

That one word shook Misty from her nightmare, her deep sapphire-blue eyes fluttering open. "Maya?" The meif'wa (cat-person) sits up, looking down at the young girl she called her daughter. 

"Mama, are you okay?... You were crying in your sleep..." The younger meif'wa said worriedly. 

Misty smiles at the seven-year-old, nodding. "I'm okay, sweetheart. Mama just had a bad dream." Misty slides out of her bed, "Now, how about we get you back to bed, alright?" 

"Okay, Mama!" Maya happily takes her mother's hand as Misty leads the young girl back to her bedroom. She gets back into bed, giggling when her mother kissed her head and tucked her in.

"Goodnight, Maya," Misty says quietly, a smile gracing her lips as she sees that her daughter was already fast asleep. Misty returns to her bedroom, stepping onto her balcony into the cold night's air. She takes a deep breath, closing her eyes. She leans against the balcony railing, and as she opens her eyes, they turn a periwinkle blue, her pupils taking the shape of moons. Her ears and tail disappear, being replaced by a pair of grey angel wings and a grey halo. Her hand goes to the necklace around her neck, reverting to her original form hastily. She lets out a sigh of relief, muttering to herself, "Can't let the neighbors see..." She then turns and re-enters her home, sliding back into her bed and rolling over, pulling up her covers. She whispers, "Goodnight, Eternia Springs." before closing her eyes, and falling into a deep slumber.
