The Queen lunged forward, her knife out, poised to kill. Her bright eyes glinted in the dying sunlight as a mighty battle cry erupted from her throat. The boy stood behind her, wounded, shivering in pain and fear. She wouldn't let him die. Not on her watch, Her strong legs pushed her forward, as she-
"Gwenevieve Chorinixa!" I jump, looking up to meet the furious grey eyes of my teacher, Ms. Bennett.
"Y-Yes Ma'am?" I stutter out; I look away from her demon eyes.
"I hope that is Geometry and not some frivolous writing you have in your notebook. If I were you I'd get my head out of the clouds and not waste my potential!" She sneered. My face turned beet red and I look down, embarrassed.
"Yes, Ma'am." I murmur quickly. She turns and leaves. Stupid old Hag! I was getting to the best part too! I turn my attention back to my writing, pretending to be taking notes. I'd much rather be saving the world, or falling in love, or traveling the galaxy. Not stuck here, in this boring town of Beaufort. Nothing exciting ever happens here. I look out the window to the pouring rain...maybe someday I can leave this place. Head for New York, become a singer....no that'll never happen. The bell snaps me from my thoughts. I quickly pack up my things and walk swiftly out the door. Why am I here? I don't belong...ok I mean I know my place. I'm a nerd..and nothing cool ever happens to the nerds.
"Hey, Gwen!" A chipper voice calls. I turn to see my popular and bouncy friend, Sammy. Sammy is a big puppy, and at a towering 5'11, she's the best volleyball player here. Somehow we ended up as friends. She can be a hand full too. Hyper, loud, tall...I like to imagine her as a beautiful Warrior Queen who disregards the limits of life. She fits it too, long dark hair, beautiful brown eyes, and a caramel complexion.
"Sup Sam?" I nod to her. She catches up to me as we go to our next class. I look up to see her grinning down at me.
"What?" I ask.
"Oh dude, do I have some good news for you, my little gay summer child." I roll my eyes.
"What?"
"We have a new student here. And you'll love her.'' I blink.
"Hold on, back up. A new student?!" I exclaim in shock. Sammy nods energetically. Oh. My. God. A new girl! Who would have thought! Here!
"..-Best part? She's from New York. Moved here for unknown reasons!" Sammy chirps. Unknown reasons, new girl? Huh...Sounds like the perfect beginning to a story.
"Damn. Ok, What do you know about her?" I question Sammy further as we head into next classroom. We take our seats next to each other.
"Well, haven't seen her yet. I heard she's pretty cool though. I follow her Instagram-"
"Let me see!" I yell. A few heads turn. I look down. Sammy giggles.
"Ok ok hold on- oh look there she is now." I look up and see a goddess walk into the room. I blink. This girl is beautiful. She has long, dark red hair pulled back in a messy bun, bangs framed her perfectly pale face. Her perfectly dark lips were pulled into a confident pout, just aching to be kissed, a leather jacket with a perfect set of jeans and a crop top gives her the air of a futuristic warrior. I look away; Sammy starts giggling.
"Stop staring!" I hiss.
"You like her!"
"I do not! I just think she's pretty-"
"Hey is this seat taken?" The voice of the goddess announces. Don't be weird, don't be weird!
"No, it's not." Sammy answers for me. The Goddess walks over and sits on the seat on my right. I feel Sammy nudge me in the arm. Ok, on the count of three talk to her. Ready? One, two.....three-
