"Can you believe it's been a month since what happened?" Drake asked.
"Yeah, I know. Last month was so crazy. Cameron broke my arm, Jessica got with me, and I saved Bailey from killing herself. I think I'm done with memorable moments for a while," I said.
"Speaking of memorable moments..."
Drake pointed behind me; it was Cameron. It had been a month, but he changed a lot. He was a lot skinnier, his hair was shorter too. There was this haunting look in his eye, almost as if he saw something horrible happen.
"Has it been a month already?" I asked.
"I'm in no mood for bullshitting today, Wynter. I've gotta proposition for you," Cameron said.
"Scott, I don't think you should-"
"Hold on, Drake. What's your proposition?" I asked.
Cameron smiled a insidious smile, "How about a fight? You know, one that's fair? We both know you'd like that." Soon, all my friends came in to see what was going on. Drake stepped forward.
"If you're going to fight anyone, it's gonna be me, bro," Drake said.
"I asked Scott, not you, Drake," Cameron said.
Drake balled his fists. I put my hand on his shoulder, "Hey bro, I got this." He sighed and backed up.
"We'll be there to help Scott in any way we can," Preston said. He stepped on a cafeteria table. "Won't we everyone?"
The cafeteria erupted into cheers. Everyone was cheering, even the people that never really knew me. I smiled, and teared up a little bit. To know that that many people cared, it felt great.
I snickered, "Alright, Cameron. You're on."
He nodded, "3:30, end of school today, outside in the front."
"You can't be serious. That's a terrible place. How about...oh, I don't know, the junkyard near the end of town? The one with the shipping crates everywhere," I suggested.
Cameron smiled a toothy smile and nodded, "The junkyard it is."
He left, Dex and Asia trailing behind him. Drake looked at me with half annoyance, half concern, "Scott, there's no way you're fighting him in the junkyard, you'll kill yourself doing that."
"I can handle myself. I'll come outta there alive, okay?"
3:30 came around as if I had awoken from a dream. Drake and I walked on the highway sidewalk.
"What's gonna happen after you beat him?" Drake asked.
"Expose him for the pieces of shit his family are. They bribed the government to keep their seats in the House and Cameron raped Tara," I said.
"You fucking serious? Wonder if that Farah Tamimi was one he did that to," Drake pondered.
"You know, I didn't think about this: what if he's got a weapon on him or something?"
"Don't put shit like that in your head. You'll just make yourself scared," Drake said.
I stopped in my tracks and looked at Drake with annoyance, "Drake, I'm not scared. I've been in fights with weapons before, even faced Death in the face once. But you know what I did when I stared at Death?" Drake raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
"I told Death 'fuck you'. I'll do the same thing again if I got to," I said coldly.
"Shit, Scott..."
