I Wanted To - Part 1 - (P.T. Barnum)

It was a busy day for you. Of course, it would be a busy day for anyone if you just got hired at a new job two weeks ago too. But all aside, you came to Phineas's circus to find a job but during the past two weeks you managed to

1. Be utterly clumsy most of the time.
2. Wear yourself out about everything, and
3. Fall deeply in love with none other than your boss and the ringleader, P.T. Barnum himself.

He was a single man,(he isn't married in this) and he managed to treat everyone with respect, a true gentlman and it made you swoon everytime he offered you a hand into the carriage or even lifted you in, or helped you when you were clumsy or tired. He was a miracle that came to your rough life you had lived before.

"So Anne is going to be practicing her fall. A...and you'll ride out on the horse later." you say going over the rehearsal plans for the show. You and Philip had to take over while Barnum was doing some business stuff in another state for a few weeks. It was wearing on you, and you wonder how he was constantly so joyful when he had all this work all aside the time.

You finish explain and sigh sitting by Lettie, the bearded lady. "How does he do this." you sigh as she chuckles. "Honey that man is a wonder even I can't figure out." you smile at her words laughing lightly. "He really is." you whisper looking around. Lettie eyes you suspiciously. "Mmmhmmm...a handsome wonder too, huh?" she slyly says as you utter a, "mhm." back. Then you realize what she said. You sit upright from your slouched position, looking at Lettie wide eyed. "Wait! I didn't mean it like that. Why would I like Barnum, I mean he's a gentleman and all but, but I sure w-wouldn't devolope a crush on, on my boss." you stutter out rambling. You breath slowly as Lettie smiles widely at you not convinced. "No." you state one last time eyebrows furrowed.

As you get up she chuckles letting out an, "okay." and you shake your head at her. You could never admit to liking Barnum. He was your boss for heavens sake! Its very unofficial. Plus, Phineas would never like you back, you have seen the way he looks at. It was not a look of love. At least you didn't think so.

The next couple of days were pure torture with both Lettie and now Anne teasing you. You decided to prove them and yourself wrong, you didnt like Phineas and you'd prove it!

When the time came were it was planned that you pick up Barnum you left it to W.D. to do it. Besides you were way to busy getting the show polished and ready for his inspection. "Don't let anyone do anything wrong." Lettie teased. "Yes you want to impress him don't you?" Anne says nudging Lettie as you growl storming away to your tent.

As you sit and look at yourself glumly in the mirror you see Phineas himself stepinto your tent. You jump up quickly gasping. "Phineas, I mean mister Barium!" you gasp straightening your dress. "I, I wasn't expecting you back this early." you say shyly. P.T. was standing as handsome as always before you. He had on that grin that threw your heart into fits and you immediately felt weak at any attempt of distancing yourself.

He took two steps forward smiling now. "I know! But the train arrived early. I hope your not to mad I'm back early." he smirked and you looked down blushing. "I'm not mad sir, I just didn't know. Is all." you stutter scrambled. "Y/N what's wrong? And stop calling me official like names. What's gotten into you while I was gone? Did it drive you mad?" he slyly teased. Your blood began to boil as you were about done with everyone's stupid jokes and teases.

You look up at Phin with a look that could kill, which causes a frown to form on his face. "You know what! I can't do this anymore! Just leave me alone! Why can't people leave me be! All the jokes and teases! They're driving me simply insane!" you shout angry as ever.

P.T. is confused and worried beyond belief. "Y/N please I didn't mean anything harmful. You can tellmewhats wrong?" a tear runs down your cheek as you charge forward pushing your way past Barium and are soon running to anywhere but the circus.
