When Kathrine Diane Sundel was born on June 19, 2001 doctors instantly knew that something was wrong. She was born pre-mature by two months and didn't even budge when she was born, only crying several hours later.
The doctors determind when Katy was just a baby that she had a weak and enlarged heart, causing her to be at bedrest for the early years of her life and mostly relying on life support to help her heart grow. She had an extremely rare blood type, making it nearly impossible to find donor heart and finding blood to do the sugergy so, she was stuck with a weak heart.
And at the age of six while her mom was speaking with the doctors, she eavsodropped and found out that her heart will give out at the age of 17.
This was a heavy secret to lay onto anyone, let alone a six year old girl who barely even knew where the town hall was. She had spent most of her childhood waiting in waiting rooms and was lost to watching kid's shows 14 times over, friendless and practically deviant of any social skills.
That was until Richie Teeter moved into the block.
And with his arrival came her rebellious and cocky nature.
As soon as Richie found out there was a girl his age living two houses over, he would throw small colorful balls at her window at the same time everyday at 4:23 pm. He would throw the balls at her window and would pull her window up and lean there, chatting with him till the sun sets.
That's how their friendship started, Richie soon sleeping over at her house constantly and having somebody around be brighten up the boring house that she has gotten so familiar with.
Then, came the bucket list.
It was a mistake to make it, that's was for sure, but since Kathy wasn't going to live on this earth for long, she didn't have anything to lose. Bit by bit, Kathy and Richie completed the bucket list, going on many adventures that would be a thrill to tell to anybody who would listen them.
But...there's this one that neither of them have checked off to do and for a good reason.
Because to complete the last one, Kathy would have to strip all of her armor off in order to complete it.
