[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]
I was currently watching my boyfriend James play football from the stands at my high school. I never understood why James wanted to be with me when he had cheerleaders flinging themselves at him all the time. However, James was smart, funny, and kind, which made us the imperfect, perfect match-at least, that's what my grandma used to tell me when I doubted myself.
Today was a crucial football game between my high school and the rival high school. I don't understand basketball, let alone any other sport.
When James made the game-winning shot, I yelled "whooo" at the top of my lungs so that he could hear me through the crowd. I was jumping up and down in excitement, and as I did, he turned around and looked at me with the biggest smile on his face-a smile of happiness and love-before I started to walk down the court. When I reached the last step, I sprinted over to him and jumped into his arms as I hugged him because whenever I was around James, I felt safe. After a lengthy embrace, I looked up at him and we shared a kiss that made me smile. His teammates looked over at us and said, "Get a room, you two," which made us both laugh. He then set me down and I said "you were amazing" which probably which caused him to smile "well I had a great cheerleader in the stands" James said as he strokes my cheek with his hand. "Let's go" I say as I grabbed my bag before we left the football court holding hands as we headed to the bus shelter together.
Usually after a game I would head back home with James to study, or hang out however I needed to help my grandmother clean out her attic as we reached the bus bay I turned Aldine to him with a sad look on my face because I didn't want him to leave as I saw James friends
arrive he placed a kiss on my cheek before heading to the car, however as he was about o her in he stopped and turned to face me. "James get in" one of his football buddies said as he put up a finger "wait a minute" James said as he looked at me. Before he ran over to me with a grin on his face "so what are you doing now?" James asked as he leant against the bus stop "well I'm going home to help gran clean out her attic" I said with a look of boredom on my face because it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do on a Friday night."Well can I come?" James asked with a cheeky grin on his face "yeah" He smiles before showing me one finger and saying "one minute".He runs off down the road and comes back with his bag on shoulder and as we start to walk he slowly slides his hand into mine I don't look at him we just carry on walking. We know when we finally reached my grandmothers house by the smell of her famous cookies drifting down the road.
My gran was very picky about people, so l
quickly grab his hand and run into her house. I
put my bag down on the counter slowly and
quietly as I try to reach for the cookie.
Grandma turns around and slaps my hand,
causing me to drop the cookie directly on top
of the plate. This made me chuckle, and she
then started to smile at me, prompting me to
smile back at her. When Grandma turned
around and saw James standing there, she
said, "I'm guessing this is the James I've heard
so much about," which started to make me
uneasy."Gran" I said glaring at her because I didn't want her to embarrass me "oh dear calm down I'm not going to embarrass you." Grandma said with a grin on her face which caused James to smile as he placed out his hand out for my grandma to shake she looks down at it for a moment before shaking his before going back to the kitchen to place the rest of the cookies in the oven. Before we began to walk up the stairs "don't think I've forgotten about you cleaning out the attic today" My grandma shouted after us.
Which caused us to stop "yes I know" I said rolling my eyes which made James chuckle "I don't think James will mind helping you" Grandma said before I ran up the stairs with James behind me until we reached the attic where we both stood there before I pulled down the ladders until they reached the bottom before looking to James before I began to climb up the ladders until I reached the top and climbed into the attic. I began to walk across the floor being careful because it was an old house and I didn't want to risk falling through the ceiling.
This caused us to stop, and I said, "Yes, I
know," rolling my eyes, which made James
laugh. Grandma had said, "I don't think James
will mind helping you." Grandma said, When we reached the attic, we both stood there as I pulled down the ladders until they reached the bottom before looking to James before I started to climb up the ladders until I reached the top and climbed into the attic. I started to carefully
walk across the floor because the house was
old and I didn't want to take the chance of
falling through the ceiling. As James climbed up, we started going through
the boxes and sorting them into separate bags
and boxes labelled "garbage," "keep," and
"give away" until I came across a box in the
corner hidden behind other boxes that looked
different from the others, older, and with
engravings that appeared to be hundreds of
years old, which intrigued me. So I leaned over
and grabbed the box, then I said, "Hey,
look at this," and James set down what he was
looking at and came over to me.We both looked at the box before I began to open the box as we opened it the only thing that was in the box was a book, a story book "what the hell" James said as I lifted it up from the box blowing it to get away the dust before opening it "it's a story book" James said as he began to read the first page before I began to flip through the book "it's all of the stories" James said "together that seems odd I've never seen a book like this before" I said confused "let me have a look" James said sounding interested before I passed him the book. I began to walk around until I heard the book drop on the ground which caused me to turn around.
"What's the matter" i said concerned as I ran over "it's us" James said pointing at the box on the ground before I reached down picking up the book from the ground. Looking at the page as I did James was right we were in this book but it was old, the most shocking now is that the photo in the book was us now "how is this even possible" i said turning around to look at James worried before I began to feel dizzy "hey you ok?" James asked as I began to stumble before I collapsed.
