This story is dedicated to wolfiebaby2. My friend told me that this story sounded interesting which made me decide to finish it.

The day seemed to start almost perfectly. Until it took a drastic turn for our younger selves, making it end in tears and heartbreak.

Alex; my best friend and I were up in my room while our parents chatted downstairs. We had just finished watching a movie together.

"That's gonna be us, Ellie," Alex told me turning to look at me when the credits started to scroll on the screen.

"Yeah, maybe one day," I said turning to face him. We had the same conversation every time we watched a film. It was our dream to act. Though, I was growing a little tired of the same dialogue. Sometimes, I thought that Alex dreams of it more than me however I did want it to come true.

Alex stood up on my bed and began to improvise a song. As well as acting we loved singing and anything that gave us the ability to perform.

Gonna be movie stars,
Oh, yeah I can see it now,
Flashing lights,
A camera films every scene,

I began to smile and joined him in his song so I stood up on my bed and started dancing. Then carried on adding a new part to the verse.

Gonna be,
Gonna be movie stars,
Just a simple dream,
But everything would change,
Adoring fans,
And passion,
In every take,

Alex ended it with,

Oh, yeah I can see it now,
Me and your movie stars.

We fell on the bed laughing and trying to catch our breath. All the jumping and dancing had tired us out. After a few moments of rest, we decided to head downstairs to grab a drink, to only stop at the top of the stairs when we heard the words that would change everything.

"We're moving next week," we heard Alex's mum say.

"But why do you have to move so far? Can't he get a job close to home?" My mum asked her.

"He's set on it. I can't change his mind. I've tried, but there's nothing I can do," she replied sadly.

"But what about, Alex, I'm sure he doesn't want to move," my mum said.

"Believe me I don't want him to leave, but I've tried everything," his mum told her.

"He must be heartbroken," my mum pointed out.

"I haven't even told him yet."

I hadn't seen Alex make his way downstairs and now it was too late to stop him from charging down. All I could do was follow him.

"We're moving and you didn't tell me, " he shouted as he stormed into the room.

"Darling, I was going to tell you, " his mum told him and went to go hug him, but he stepped backward, away from her.

"When? When it was time to move so I didn't have a choice, so I would just move with you. Don't I get to choose what I want?" He was still shouting, but now tears began flowing from his eyes.

"I've tried talking to your dad, but he's still going," she replied refusing to answer his questions.

"Why can't we just stay here and let him go if he wants to so badly? " He asked, but she didn't say anything. "Oh, so it's all for him. Doesn't matter how I feel?"

"He's your dad, " she pointed out.

"Yeah, and I'm your son, or doesn't that matter?" He wondered.

"Of course it does, " she said lowering her voice, looking at her so intently and lovingly.

"Then let us stay, " he begged.

"I'm sorry we can't, " she told him.

"I hate you and I'm not going anywhere with you. You can't make me, " he screamed and ran out of the room into the garden.

I'm sure he didn't mean what he said about hating her. He loved his mum. He was just angry and upset. I followed him and found him sitting on the cheap wooden bench, so I joined him. He was still crying when I sat beside him and had his head buried in his hands

He lowered his hands and looked up and turned to me, with bloodshot eyes caused by the crying. "I don't want to move," he sobbed, which just set me off crying too because he was my friend and I hated seeing him sad. Plus I was upset he was leaving too.

"I don't want you to either, but you have to," I pointed out.

"No, I don't, " he argued.

"You do and we both know it," I said firmly.

"But you're my best friend."

"I know, you are mine too, but we will keep in touch, won't we? Nothing will stop us from being friends. What have we always said?" I asked him, trying my best to cheer him up and myself.

"We'll be best friends forever," he replied.

"Yes, and nothing will change that. No matter how far away you move," I said. He didn't reply instead he pulled me into a hug and held me tight. I hugged him back and our crying gradually came to a stop. We knew it was true, our friendship was stronger than anything. Strong enough to last the distance.

We stayed hugging until our mums came out to collect us and we promised to make our last days together before he left the best we ever had and that we would talk on the phone every day. That was a promise we kept, but each of our lives was going to change from then on. It was going to change in a way we could never have predicted.

Author's Note: So I finally finished typing up the first chapter. It's a little different from the one on paper but not much. I just added a few descriptions in areas and changed some sentences to make them sound better. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed Chapter 1.
