Charlie landed on Steve, and he grunted, “Are you okay?” she asked, and he nodded his head.

She rolled off of him, and he stood up picking up his shield. “We better go, before they find us.” he said, and they ran over to Charlie's car.

The ride home was silent until Steve spoke, “Charlie, why didn't we do this the legal way? If they find out we were there, we're going to be in trouble. You could lose your job, because it's not a Shield mission, nor an Avengers mission.” he said, and Charlie pulled up to their apartment shutting off the car.

“Steve, please trust me on this. There is something going on with this whole ordeal. I was hired as a private investigator, but my partner is not who he says he is.” Charlie said, and she placed her hand on his.

“And I haven't gone back to working for Shield since— since Phil. But there's just something wrong here, with my partner, and with the owner of this factory.” she said, and Steve's eyes met her.

“You can do this with me, or you don't have to. I know you have standards and—”

Steve stopped her, “I'm always going to help you. And I believe you, if you have a gut feeling about this, then I believe you. I'll help you as much as I can.” he said, and Charlie pressed a kiss to his lips.

He smiled, and she picked up the bag with the evidence in it; they went up to their apartment.

Steve placed his shield on the couch as Charlie pulled the curtains closed.
She walked to the counter and began to empty the bag.

Pulling out the cylinder shaped containers, she began to study them. It was a long, silver cylinder container, with a yellow label on the side that said 'CAUTION'.

As she picked it up, it slipped out of her hand and hit the floor with a loud thud.

Little did she know, that there was still a gaseous toxin in it. Steve was in the bathroom, and Charlie picked up the container.

She began to cough and choke; making her drop the container back on the floor.

Steve walked out of the bathroom, “Charlie, what's all of the— Charlie?” he said not seeing her.

The living room was dark, and he instantly knew something was wrong. “Charlie?”

He fell to the floor with Charlie standing over him. She held a gun in front of Steve's face; her finger on the trigger.

He hit the gun out of Charlie's grip, making it slide across the wood floor. Steve kicked Charlie off of him, and she hit the side of a cabinet; enraging her.

Charlie lunged at Steve, and punched him in the jaw.

“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Steve shouted, as Charlie threw another punch at him.

With his quick reflexes, he caught her fist, and she tried to punch him with her other hand but she didn't succeed.

Steve pinned her to the floor, and she squirmed underneath his weight.
He looked over in the direction of the corner, and found the container lying on the ground.

Then it finally clicked, “I'm sorry, doll.” he said, as he put her into a choke hold. He only held it long enough for it to knock her out.

He put her in one of the kitchen chairs, and grabbed rope from one of his 'work' bags. Steve tied her to the chair, and he made sure that Charlie wouldn't be able to escape it.

Patiently waiting for Charlie to wake up, Steve cautiously put the cylinder containers back into their designated baggies to insure that this wouldn't happen again.

He was putting the baggies on the counter when he heard a groan from behind him.

“St-Steve? What the heck happened?” Charlie groaned. She tried to lift her hand to tend to her aching head, but soon realized she was tied up.

“Steve, why am I tied up? What happened?” she asked, and Steve walked over to her slowly.

“You don't remember anything that just happened?” he asked, and she shook head, “I don't remember a damn thing. But my head hurts.”

“You don't feel like murdering me do you?” Steve asked, and she raised an eyebrow.

Her eyes met his, “The only time I want murder you, is when you make me get up at 5 in the morning to run.”

Steve hesitantly united the ropes that were baring her, and took it off of her body.

“So what happened?” Charlie asked, as she rubbed the raw skin on her wrists.

“You were messing with the evidence, and I was in the bathroom; I heard a thud, so I came out to see what it was, and you attacked me. Much like those people were doing in the video.” he began to say, “And so I put you in a head lock, and it knocked you out for a good forty-five minutes.”

Charlie sat there for a second, and instantly knew what the evidence could possibly be. She knew it couldn't be true, they couldn't possibly have re-created this deadly substance.

Charlie knew she couldn't tell Steve, because she knew that he would freak, because it had something to do with—.

“Charlie?”

She was pulled from her thoughts, “I should probably get these to the lab.” Charlie said, and stood up, but was dizzy.

She stumbled, and Steve caught her, “I'll take it to the lab first thing in the morning.” she sighed, and Steve carried her to the bedroom.

He laid her in the bed, and grabbed her a change of a clothes. Right after she changed, he climbed into bed next to her, and she wrapped her arm around him.

But Charlie didn't fall right to sleep; she laid there thinking about the evidence, and she felt guilty about almost killing Steve.

She couldn't remember trying to kill him, and it was bothering her. But she did have an idea on what they found, and she knew how dangerous it could get.
