"Anna," Mac Taylor said wistfully, striding into Anna Harrison's office, holding his cell in his hand. "Mac," Anna chirped, coming around her desk to meet him. "I have two things for you," Mac started, "caffeine and a phone call." "Hm," Anna muttered, taking the phone of him, and eerie feeling coming over her. She left Mac standing there, her steaming coffee in his hand, he stared at her and waited for her to start a conversation. "Detective Joanna Harrison, New York crime lab," Anna said into the receiver. "Detective Harrison, this is Gil Grissom, from the Las Vegas crime lab," Anna turned her big hazel eyes up to Mac and he shrugged. "How can I help you?" Anna asked.
No more 20 minutes later, Joanna was standing in Mac's office filling out a leave of absence form, for four months. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Mac asked, for at least the third time. "Aw Mac, you will be fine here without me for a little bit. I will come visit," Anna said back. Mac sighed and turned his big blue eyes to Anna's young, pretty face. "You look tired, Mac," Anna noted, lifting her hand up and cupping his face. His eyes involuntarily filled with tears and he flinched as Anna's face dropped. Without anything to say, Anna simply wrapped her arms around Mac's waist and held on tightly. Mac rested his head on young Anna's and she inhaled his smell, her head resting against his chest. "How about this, Mac? We leave here now, go and get a nice tea and then head back to your place?" Anna suggested, pulling away, desperate to ease Mac's pain. "Normally I would say no, to anyone else, but yes, let's leave," Mac said, finally gracing Anna with his smile. Together they filed out of the office and walked towards the elevator, waving goodbye to the rest of their friends in the lab.
"Well Mac!" Anna giggled, slightly tipsy from the two glasses of wine she had out with Mac, "You certainly know where a good pizza place is!" Mac, being who he was, simply smirked and insisted on getting Anna back to his house. Anna laughed and flounced along behind Mac as they walked to the avalanche. "This, this has been a lovely night Mac. But you my friend, are a bad cop!" Anna chirped, as the New York streets flew past her. "Why's that?" Mac asked, sneaking a look at Anna as he drove. "Because," she started, laughing to herself, "I am only 19, and you gave me wine." "Well, lucky you're not going to go to the police on me, right?" "Hm, I doubt Don will be impressed." "Of course not, the man is in love with you!" "What?" Anna asked, spinning around to face Mac. "Are you trying to tell me, you didn't know?" Mac asked, looking at Anna. "We're just friends Mac, he's with Jess, anyway." "You're possibly right." "I'll be gone for four months, I'll just let it go." "Don't remind me." "Ah Mac, don't do this. Let's just enjoy tonight, okay?""Mac?!" Anna shouted the next morning when she woke up. "Mac!" she yelled again, sitting up and feeling the thump in her head from the hangover. "Hey Anna, how are you feeling?" Mac asked, a hint of humour in his voice. "Shut up," Anna groaned, rolling out of his bed and making her way towards him. "Here, have some caffeine," Mac said, producing a takeaway coffee cup. "Thanks, Mac," Anna answered, taking a sip and then sitting it down on his dresser. "I'm sure being hungover will make a great first impression when I start at Las Vegas today," Anna moaned, flopping back down on his bed. "Your flight isn't until 2:00 this afternoon, you should be able to get some sleep until then," Mac said, sitting down next to her. "No, we're just going to spend the day... Having fun. You're not going to work, I'm not going to work, let's just chill. Go into town, or something. Go to broadway, see a show, we can do whatever," Anna said, sitting up and leaping off the bed. "I've always admired you Anna, never change!" Mac laughed, standing up and enveloping her in a hug. "Am I interrupting something here?" Detective Don Flack asked humorously from outside the window. "Oh, hush," Anna instructed Don, ruefully pulling away from Mac's warmth. "What's up, Flack?" Mac asked, stepping away from Anna towards the window of his house, he hauled it open. "4-19, up in the Bronx at the zoo. No, before you ask, no one has been eaten by a tiger, this one in different. Oh, we'll also we working with and against, I imagine, zoologists and vets, because the human isn't the only one injured," Don explained and Mac groaned. "Oh what? Let me guess, there's an elephant involved!" Anna shouted, regretful that she couldn't work it. "How did you know that?" Don asked. "Talent!" Anna answered, "sadly I won't be able to join you on this one." "What do you mean?" Don asked, attempting to climb through Mac's window. "What the hell are you doing?" Mac demanded, "We have doors for a reason, Flack!" Laughing, Don jogged around to the front door and let himself in. "I'm going to Las Vegas, for four months. I'm working there," Anna explained, and Don's face dropped, and he sat down on Mac's bed. "Don't stress Donny, I'll be back soon," Anna mused, kissing him lightly on the head. "Well okay. When do you leave?" "Today, at 2:00. Mac is taking me to the airport." "Well, I'll let him back after we have had a look at this case, okay? You have a good time Anna, stay safe, keep in contact, and visit us, okay?" "Okay." Anna hugged Don, and him and Mac left out the front door. Sighing, Anna sat down on Mac's bed, finally able to show her excitement about going to Las Vegas!
