Atlas tipped his head back, exposing his neck. He glowed in the moon's light - even his ginger locks were tainted an odd shade of silver - as his long lashes fluttered against his pale, delicate skin. A cloud of his breath danced upwards towards the stars. Atlas heart was contracting painfully within his fragile chest, a feeling he had not yet become accustomed to despite its recently frequent visits.
"Hi," he began in a small yet deep voice. "It's...been a while. I'm sorry I haven't talked to you. Things have been hard, y'know?" Atlas puffed his cheeks out then released the air slowly through his rose petal lips. He ran his tongue over his right canine tooth, gently biting down, before frowning; his eyes shone with a burning rage.
When he was eleven years old, Atlas began to talk to the stars. They were there for him ever since: through issues at school, family members' deaths and heartbreak. Despite this, Atlas still had to battle against his instinct to keep quiet so he could tell them.
"There's a boy, okay? He has the softest skin that I've ever felt, the most gorgeous lips, these brown eyes that light up whenever he sees me, and an absolutely breath-taking smile." He paused, squeezing his eyes shut. His voice cracked with emotion as he spoke the next two words. "I'm gay."
Liquid pain slid down his reddened cheeks as he let himself voice his secret for the very first time. Atlas' breath caught in his throat, utter desperation running its slender fingers across his vocal chords to produce a heart-shattering tune. Subconsciously, Atlas wrapped his sweater-clad arms around his torso.

This snippet was actually inspired by a photography copy that I used in my GCSE Art exam prep.
