"Woah, dude! Where did you find this place?!" I exclaimed as I got lost in the sight before me. The lights of Seoul were shining as stars against the darkness of the night.
"I haven't been here since my dad got remarried." I looked next to me and saw Jungkook smiling at me. "I would always come here when I start missing my mom. I don't know, it just gives me a sense of peace and it calms me."
"Isn't this like a secretive place then? A place you would only keep to yourself? Why have you brought me here?"
"Because I want to."
"Dude!" I playfully hit, "That's such a boring answer!"
Jungkook laughed at me. Seeing him be all happy, it made me happy too.
"This place is a big part of my years before my biggest wish got granted. Ever since a young child, I always wanted a sibling. My mother and father weren't always there for me, and then my mother left while I was still in primary school. Sometimes I find her disappearance a good thing. My father and I got closer. But even then, I wanted a sibling who I could share secrets with, someone who I could love and smile with. When I heard the news of my father's marriage with your mother, I was a tad bit sad. I was afraid that the bond between my father and I was going to fade away. But then I heard about you. I was so overjoyed. My childhood desire was finally going to come true."
"Have I fulfilled your desire of having a sibling?"
"Indeed you have, thank you Anzu."
I leaned my head against his shoulder with a feeling of guilt and sadness taking over my heart. He only saw me as a sister. I could never become his significant other. I could not be the one he leans on in the future. I will always be a family member. I often fantasize about Jungkook and I in another universe where we were not siblings, where I could love him without shame.
But I have to accept reality.
