I hear my boring, noisy, stupid alarm clock for yet another time in my life. I step out of bed and look for the guilty noisemaker. "Damn it!", I shout, "Forgot to change my alarm again after the weekend!." Like a madman I run to the kitchen to takesomething out of the fridge and run off to school. Obviously can't do that because I am stopped by my prying mother, who gives me a long lecture about the fact that I'm late for school once again. "You should learn to behave more responsible," she shouts at me, (believe me when I say that she does every day) "I'm not calling your school every day to say you're late again." I sigh and shout back: "It's not just my fault though, you were awake! If you had waken me up I wouldn't be late for school now!" I don't wait for an answer and walk to the door, take my ugly coat and shut door loudly.
Oh yeah, with all those stupid problems I forget to introduce myself, I'm Katja Greene, I'm 16 years old and live in Belgium. Do you think I have a life full of luxury? That I'm super smart and really popular? Wrong thought. I go to a normal school with very ordinary, boring children without many ambitions.
Okay, where was I? Oh yes, so I walk to my best friend, who lives two blocks away, together with her walk to school. My friend's name is Nora, she's a lot smarter, prettier and more popular than me. Yet she's my friend, she's seriously the best! I'll even prove it with some examples:
- She's my best friend even though she has the chance to go to a lot of parties and she can hang out with the popular groups in school.
- They can get all the boys in our school but first makes sure that I get a boyfriend. (The hottest guy at school, who I'm in love since last year and doesn't see me. Just like all other girls at school because he has a band with a few friends and he is busy all the time rehearsing, his name is Titus and he's really hot!)
- She understands me and listens to all my problems.
If that doesn't proof that she is truly a good friend, I do not know what does.
When we leave Nora starts talking (And once she starts, she's onstoppable).
"Hey," she says, "you're really late today, huh, can I regain a sermon by Mr. Roels, our math teacher, again."
"Sorry," I say, still a little groggy because Ibarely had any time to get ready, "I will also get a lecture from Mr. Roels because math is my worst subject and therefore I won't benefit from a missed class. "
Without saying anything Nora stops in front of a coffee shop and runs off like a real runner. Why can't I run that fast? I should practice. But what would het plan be? She comes out with two large coffee cups and hands one to me. "Here, it looks like you could use a boost," she says. You see, she's the best! "But I don't have money to pay you back," I say. To which she replies: "Haha, it will cost you nothing but a smile and a good chat."
"Oh, Nora, what would I have to do without you?", I say while giving her a big hug. While we drink our coffee on the way to school, Nora startsasking questions. "And, Katja," she begins, "Did you have any nice dreams last night?"
"Yeah, what woudl you expect? I have a great topic to dream huh," I say and give her a wink. She gives me a strange look, but understands what I mean. "When will you go and talk to Titus instread of writing his name on your hand all the time. If you keep doing that you will get cancer," she says, laughing at me. Typically Nora to start about such things when it comes to subjects like boys. Cancer and boys? That really does not fit together! Yes, I have a weird friend. People would begin to think that there's something wrong with her . Just ignore it Katja. "I don't know, he's so popular and hangs around his band all the time, he's super hard to reach.", I sigh, "Besides, he would never even norice me, if he even has any interest in girls. I'm not pretty and definitely not popular." I sigh once again. Waah! No air! Breathe! Nora looks at me angrily. "What?", I ask, "Did I say something wrong?"

I'm going to end part one here. Please let me know what you think about it so far.
It'd help me a lot to know what other people think about this.
Let me know if you'd like the next part.
Oh, and I'm translating this story from Dutch to English, I've almost finished it in Dutch, but it'll take me some time to translate everything. Also, English is my 3rd language so please correct any mistakes I made.
The picture I added is how I imagine Katja to look like. I hope it gives you a better image of the characters.
I'll probably upload a picture of Nora in the next part.
Xoxo
