Niel Armstrong once said, "Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man's desire to understand."
Chapter One: Abdi's college life
It was a sunny day, after I came home from soccer. I was in excellent mood. My team won the soccer game. Before the game started, something else happened. I wasn't expecting it, but it just happened so fast. I had no clue that my heart would fall so fast, her beauty, her smile, her laugh and everything about her was just amazing. I bet you're wondering who I am talking about? Well get your popcorn and drinks ready.
During soccer practice something else happened our coach recommend us to practice in the gym, I was in a good mood. The sun came out and I couldn't wait until the game started. Before the game started I took 3 laps just to warm up my body. I had a great feeling about the game. At the same time, I didn't want to put any negative thoughts in my head, so I remained calm. I stretched my arms, hands, and legs. While I was stretching, she walked in through the gym doors and all thoughts of soccer vanished from my mind. She was laughing with her two friends. Her smile was bright and her laugh was gentle. Her skin was smooth and her eyes were brown. She was about average height with straight shoulder length hair. My heart thudded loudly in my chest. Her dark eyes met mine."Hey Abdi!" A soccer ball slammed into my stomach and I doubled over.
I coughed and looked up and was met with Marco's smirking face. "Pay attention you idiot. We're here to play soccer not check out girls. Besides, I already called the one you were looking at."
I glared at him and threw the soccer ball back at him, but he easily ducked out of the way.Luke laughed. "Looks like Abdi has a crush," he said, while dribbling the soccer ball. "Darn it Abdi, stop being a wanker and make a move before she becomes someone else's."
I laughed and said, "Nah, son. She's gonna be mine. Watch."Marco crossed his arms. "Go ahead. Let's see you ask her out."
I took a deep breath. Currently she was stretching with her friends. I counted to three then began walking toward her. My heart was beating fast like I was being chased by lion. She turned her head and looked at me. I froze and quickly turned around and ran past my friends. Their laughter echoed in my ears as I ran into the locker room. I flopped down onto a bench. Man, I was such a loser. I glanced at the clock. Ten minutes until the game started.
Who cares about the game when there's a pretty girl waiting for me to ask her out?
I decided to write a poem. Expressing how I feel about her, it wasn't easy for me to say in a few words. I was so nervous. That's why I decided to write her a poem.
The poem said, "Hello, I am Abdi and I really like your smile, I wish we could talk right now, but whenever I walk past you, I get goosebumps and words get stuck in my throat. You are my African Queen. I will treat you like I treat Fufu well. I will eat you up like Maafe. You are delicious. You are a snack. No, you're a full course meal. You are Fufu, Caramel and yummy. Sorry I'm being weird, but if this gets your attention then it was worth it."
My friend delivered it to her.

A few days later while I was shooting hoops in the gym, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around. It was her holding my letter. I was sweating like heck, at the same time I was nervous. My heart was beating faster than usual. I think I was having a heart attack. Noo...it was just a love attack!"Did you write this poem?"
"Yeeeah." I said, nervously. I barely met her eyes.
