Prologue

“Zila, can you pass me that wrench please?” My father called from under the car he was fixing, and I glanced up from my cell phone to grab it and hand it to him. I had gotten my first cell only three days ago on my 11 birthday and I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down, I was addicted to it, constantly texting my friends. Only a few kids in my grade had a phone, I was so cool!

Usually I would be so into helping my Dad fix his cars, but today… I just couldn’t concentrate!

OMG!!! You wont BELIEVE who just texted this chick!! EEEEK!!!

I glanced down at my phone, gasping at the text from my best friend Angelica, though everyone called her Angel for short.

Whowhowho???

“Zila Aurora May Magill, put that phone down and come help me and your sister,” My dad snapped.

“Yeah Zee, please!” My little sister, Sammy, begged from her seat up by the counter. I sighed dramatically.

“Yeah, fine. Whatever,” I snapped, pocketing my phone and getting down on my knees by the car. My father smiled at me, handing me the wrench. I glared at him at first, but after awhile I finally into it, and we were all laughing and working together.

My phone started ringing, and I looked down at it, frowning.

“Someone’s calling me Dad, hold on, I think its Mom,” I said, jogging out of the work shop for better service.

“Hello?”

Static echoed in my ear, and a shiver went down my spine.

“Mom?” I asked, confused.

Heavy breathing came and then: “Run little girl… they are coming for you…”

I laughed nervously. “Sunny, Angel, are you messing with me?”

“Run… they are…close…”

Goose bumps erupted on my arms.

“If you don’t tell me who you are right now, I will hang up.”

“They want you…they…want…to rule…the universe…”

“Okay this isn’t funny anymore. Seriously, who is this?” I demanded, my stomach dropping to my knees.

“Zee?” My little sister came up to me.

“They…are here…they…will do anything….to figure out which one… they… will do anything… to get the one key… they….run….run….”

RUN!” They voiced screamed, and then the dial tone sounded.

I winced. “Well, that was weird,” I said, laughing nervously. “Come on Sammy.” I grabbed my sisters hand, turning around. Flames were everywhere, surrounding the work place.

I screamed, running forward.

“Daddy? Daddy?! DADDY!!”

Chapter 1

Six years later

I walked through the field leading to my house from school. I walked slowly, trying to put of getting there for as long as possible. I hated it there, all I wanted was my Daddy… My mom didn’t understand me, nor my sisters, and since my father’s death six years ago, everything about my loving, comfortable home changed. The place I called “home,” it was more like a dungeon.
