Chapter 2

Psychology passed quickly. Once again, I was fortunate enough to be given a seat next to the window; so naturally, I spent my time staring outside at the school fields.

I had forgotten about my encounter with Theus before Psychology, his stupidity wasn’t something which I liked to think about. The bell rang indicating the end of second lesson. I stood up, collecting my things and walked out, subconsciously pulling my sleeves over my wrists.

“Oh, Miss Guy?” Miss Rink spoke; she had a quiet, soft voice and a mass of curly red hair which she had tamed into a bobble. So far she was my favourite teacher. Not that I had only just met two yet.  “I need to give you your revision booklet” Miss Rink said fishing out a big, ugly book. “Don’t worry, it’s not as bad as it looks” she laughed at my grimace.

“Thanks Miss” I mumbled more to myself, walking quickly towards the door.

“And one more thing” Miss Rink said before I had the chance to flee. “Next lesson, try daydreaming a little less and working a bit more, you won’t keep your scholarship this way” She raised her eyebrows knowingly.

I mumbled a reply and quickly closed the door behind me.

I looked back, wondering what this teacher was thinking, she had seen me daydream throughout the lesson yet she hadn’t said anything until the end. I grumbled quietly.

“You know, I was waiting for quite a few minutes” someone spoke. I jumped at the sudden voice, recognizing it to be my ‘mentor buddy’ Theus. He caught up to me, looking slightly annoyed. Or maybe that was his usual face. “I thought I told you to wait” he said, a hint of irritation in his voice.

“I forgot” I said without apology, then paused “just drop me off to the library” I said, “you can go after that”

“...”

“Please” I snapped, politely.

Theus raised his eyebrow, something I had learned to hate in the first 15 minutes of knowing him. He smirked at my irritated look.

“I have a copy of your timetable” he said “And it appears you need to go to the dance studio”

“Oh damn it” I cursed quietly; I had completely forgotten that after school, I was meant to practice my dancing.

“So you dance? I didn’t think you would do that” he tilted his head “no, I can’t imagine you as a dancer” he said taking in my big jumper and army boots.

“I dance” I said, tonelessly “Could you drop me off to the studio?”

“That’s better, being polite doesn’t cost a penny”

He could take that advice himself.

“Right this way, sweety” Theus smirked leading me down another corridor. God, this place was like a maze, I couldn’t ever remember this place.

After a few minutes of silence, and him examining my clothes with a look of distaste, we reached the dance studio.  Well, technically there were a few dance studios.

I had been given a smaller studio, Theus opened the door, gesturing me inside. The studio had a mirror wall and (that stick thing at the side) with a polished wooden floor. The lighting in the room was soft, orange and there was a recorder at the side.

“Here you go” Theus said leaning against the wall. “Enjoy”.

There was a silence.

“You can go now” I said after a minute.
