'This is hopeless!' You yell to yourself on your way home. 'Why is it so hard to find someone to love?' you sigh and hang your head in despair. You unlock the door to your home and flop face first on the couch as soon as you closed the door. You ask yourself 'why does this keep happening? Am i doomed to forever being alone?' You continue to mope. Yes, another failed attempt at a date. Not that the dates were terrible, they all seemed to go just fine. It was the end that always hurt. So many have ended with 'you're not my type', 'you're to clingy', 'you're to distant', 'you're this', you're that', 'you don't have this', 'you have that'. The list goes on.  Everyone you went out with whether it was set up by a friend or a dating app it always seem to give you the same result. Loneliness.

"Honestly what is it with me? There's always something wrong with me that the other doesn't like." you sigh depressed. "Doesn't help that it's different for every person i meet." You lay there thinking about what to do next until you hear your phone play your favorite ringtone. Grabbing your phone from your bag you answer it without looking.

"Hello?" you asked emotionless.

"Wow, by the sound of your voice i guess the date didn't go so well?" They ask. You bolt up to sit on the couch properly. It was your friend from high school calling.

"What do you think?" You say slightly annoyed. Your friend was the one who set the date up for you. They were so sure that this was the one for you that you got your hopes up, only to end back at the start.

"I'm sorry to get your hopes up. But hey, i'm sure you'll find someone." Your friend sounded enthusiastic but, you've heard this time and time again. "So..... Can i ask what the reason was this time?" Your friend has always had your back since school. Even when they got into a relationship themselves they were there to help you. Even though you hate this question you can tell that your friend is only trying to help find you the right person. You give a long sigh.

"They said i was too nice and innocent and that they prefer someone hot and sassy" you lay back down on the couch."Being to nice!? can you believe it? i didn't even know you could be too nice. Also yes i'm innocent I've never been in a relationship before so how can i not?! i swear people are making this up just so they don't have to see me again!" Your friend giggles a bit.

"I don't think they would make stuff up they're in the same boat as you, looking for love. Also, what do you mean innocent? You and I both know you have a sick and dirty mind." You may be talking to each other over the phone but somehow, you know they are smirking.

"Shut up! Not my fault I'm 21 and still a virgin. I'm aloud to have fantasies too you know!" You can feel your face heat up from embarrassment as your friend laughs at the other end.

"Okay, Okay (y/n) chill. I'm just pulling your leg." your friend chuckles a bit. There's silence for a bit until you hear another voice in the background then your friend saying 'okay'.

"Hey sorry i got to go, are you going to be fine or should i come over?" Your friend asks a bit concerned.

"No i'll be fine. I've got some work left to do then i'll go to bed, you go have fun okay?" You smile. Even though you hate being alone you hate getting in the way of your friends happiness more. Since your friend has been in a relationship you can tell just by looking how happy they are. You can't help but feel jealous of what they have together.

"Alright if you say so. But please if you ever need me just call okay?"

"Yes i'll be fine. Now go on, you shouldn't keep him waiting" you find yourself slipping.

"Okay bye for now"

"bye"

The phone goes silent. You put it on the coffee table in front of you. Leaning back slowly into the couch staring up at the ceiling, you sigh loudly. 'I'll just go to bed' you decide. slowly walking upstairs you grab the door knob to your room only to look down the hall to a closed door. Your father's room. You miss him dearly and even though he may be gone you still look forward to what the future may have in store for you. You exhale deeply and open the door to your room. Taking your clothes off and putting your PJ's on you snuggle in bed hugging a stuff animal close to you. 'don't cry. don't cry. you can be strong. you just have to believe that it will be okay. there's always someone out there for another. there just has to be someone out there for you, right?... Right?
